Drag racing Ms3 owners att

What do you run right now in the quater?

well my slicks are on the way, and i have considered a 2 step, but...... i honestly dont think the axles could handle a launch like that. i may be wrong, but until a good upgraded set of axles come to the market, i dont think i will be the one to test it !

no idea...... most of my mods came after the track closed for the year. i did a 13.9@102 last year with just a cai.

if your really worried about your axles do't go for slicks. they are more of a harsh launch you have to go all out pin it pray it don't break good luck let us know how they go ok

its all in the launch. with a 2 step you really need to dump the clutch to get any benefit from it. with slicks, you can work the clutch to make your launch as hard/soft as you want. this will be my first time using them on a FWD car, but i have plenty of passes with slicks and a 2 step on my old turboed stang !

my 26x9.5s are on the way as well. personally i dont think we need antilag on this car, plus its not good for turbo.

my first time out will be 3500 and and quick slip, if it bogs, 4k and a quick slip

Yeah with the DISI and quick spooling turbo it's not really needed I agree.

Laloosh, you run a 12.9 on street tires but I bet if you ran slicks or dr's you would be running like 12.5 pretty easily with your current mods

Then you'll blow your tranny. ;) Seriously though when you have that kind of torque on two wheels with slicks- the tires will no longer release the energy (via wheel spin) so it loads the tranny, axel and other drive-train components.

It's very much a double edge sword. Wheel spin keeps the drive-train safe from overloading, but slows you down.

Either way I'll continue to live vicariously through you and Driver. You guys have mighty fast MS3's! Good luck and be safe.

dude lol ure a sign from god. you have both a s2000 and a ms3. i was looking at them recently. Which one do u like better?

Slicks (or bias ply dot slicks) are actually more foregiving on parts

When you launch, the sidewalls absorb the shock. Slicks have soft sidewalls, drag radials have stiffer sidewalls by design which shocks the tires harder. This is more apparent on manual trans cars and clutch dumps

the DOT slicks me and laloosh have are kinda in the middle. it is pretty much a full blown slick with a slightly stiffer sidewall. it is not like a standard tire or even a drag radial, but the side walls are supported. that little bit of support keeps the tires from grownig taller as you gain speed going down the track. i'm sure you have all seen that with the NHRA cars. in the begining of the race the tires are short and super friggin wide. as the car gains speed down the track the tires get taller and skinnier. this will not happen with the DOT slick, which is good because there is not much room to spare with this size tire !!

i use a MSD digital 4 plus P/N 62152. 2-step and retard built in. and it will give you a longer spark duration.

There is a company that makes custom half shafts for $800 a set. When I find their site, I will post it. With a 2 step and slicks, I see the shafts breaking very quickly.

there is a great place out by me called chicago driveline that makes custom stuff. i have already decided that if/when mine break thats where my next ones will come from. those guys did a kick ass job on my old stang !
