downpipe or ap for next mod?

Ahh decisions decisions. I feel like i should get a dp (cobb or cpe) before i end up getting the accessport so i dont need multiple tuning trips. I mean it does make sense to get all the bolt ons added before getting a tune right?

They will cost you the same amount and with the AP you tune yourself from what I am aware. You toggle through maps that accommodate what mods you have on the car. Plus some guys have said the folks at Cobb can help with maps as well. You don't need to take the car to a shop to have anyone tune it with the AP. If you go with the AP it would then be in your best interest to stick with Cobb mods to make mapping easier.

When reading through the blown engine posts most say lack of proper engine management while modding out might have played a factor. I say better be safe than sorry. This is all just information I've gathered from others posts and purchasing myself.

ya i know with the ap i can tune myself, but id rather get my car dialed in with the atr maps just for peace of mind by a pro. I dont want to go zoom zoom boom.

If that is the case you take your chance either way. The idea I'm getting from reading the posts is that the maps will help you along while you mod and then tweak when needed. If you just throw tons of mods on the car waiting to get tuned later, you are more so at risk then if you adjust maps with the AP as you go until you finally get a more detailed tune later. That way it can be a safety net following you as you mod more.

Sorry more people with knowledge didn't jump in with advice.

I personally have a Standback but was nice and didn't bring up that old debate. (wiggle)
