Downpipe Interest

Hey whats up guys!?

I was goign to make a full 3" DP but the problem is that the flange from the turbo housing extention (not sure what its called yet) is only a 2" diameter piece, and If i make anything larger than a 2.25" on the neck, then you will not be able to install the nuts on the bolts. Also, the weld will get in the way and not allow the nut to mount flush on the flange.

The system conisists of the elbow which bolts up to the cat assembly using a pivoting setup. It has 2 spring bolts and a donut. I was goign to make it form the pivoting section back but then I decided to make it from the turbo extention. I will try to make the elbow in a 2.5" setup and have the begining of it reduced down to a 2.25" so it can fit in onto the flange up on the turbo side.

Form there back I will use a full 2.5" setup that will bolt up to your stock catback system. I will also be using a flex section instead of the donut and spring bolt setup that wears out after ti me.

I will be using a 3" highflow cat. Now you may ask why a 3" highflow? Well the reason behind that is so I dont have to make another partnumber and so I can keep my inventory down. The 3" cat WILL bolt up to the 2.5" piping with no problem at all. It will also supply more than enough volume then you will ever need.

I know some of you guys really want a 3" system but it's not practicle. Just to let you know, a 2.5" system will support up to 450hp. Just go ask all of those eclipse guys with the 2.5" systems and also read corky bells maximum boost. It has a good chart of HP vs. Piping.

Oh, I will also be putting an extra o2 sensor bung in it for those who will want to tune there e-manage, apexi- AFC with a wideband o2 sensor.

As per 03 speed, this set-up is for you guys Im all ears so let me hear what you guys want with your setup.

Happy boosting!

Hector
You r the MAN!!!! I was going to ask about the bung for a wideband. Plus my Greddy A/f needs one. (i quess i can switch them out lol) PM me on price and a date and consider it ordered (thats when i get some money:D)

if we were to get the downpipe and continue to use our mazdaspeed catback, would we get an improved sound?? i want louder if i wasnt clear....

I want one bad as well, not really in the spot to spend over 300 on this though hopefully the price is right. looking foward to getting another mod on her. Later

The exhaust should be a little bit louder in sound.

One shouldn't really worry about the end product of sound with this setup. Just get the universal Blitz Nur Spec and that will provide more than enough sound.

Downpipe

Hey well im new to this forum. Hey Hector it's Matt just decided to register on here to see whats goin on with upgrades on MSP's. My car is the guinea pig for Hector's downpipe :D , im sure it will make a huge difference because the downpipe now looks very restrictive and weighs a whole lot more. i will make other posts to let you know what i do to my car and to see what i should do to my car. One ? was does an aftermarket BOV actually produce that much noise with the lowly boost the MSP produces? thx

most likely its not, hector has a lot of stuff going on with the neon, I talked to him about a month ago about it n i never called him back. Your best bet is not look around on these forum b/c someone is already selling a d/p

Not sure yet, maybe 300-$350. I have to see what it will run me first. This setup will come with a Cat, and a racepipe. If you run with out a cat, you WILL get a CEL(check engine light).
I wanna make sure I understand this...You will sell us this with a high-flow cat, AND a race pipe that could be swapped in?? If this is the case, why?? Isn't the high flow cat still unable to pass smog? Could you just sell the race pipe separately to those who want it? I don't race, so why woul I need it? If it's good to have, then why would I need the high flow cat?? Sorry about the questions, I'm just trying to understand this whole setup. Thanks...

OK...y r people still posting on this, this thread stopped monthes ago. The guy Hector from exhaust depot has been working non stop on products for the neon. He hasnt even looked at the msp yet n im sure he isnt going to.
