Hey guys.

As almost all of you have done or tried this but I am a newbie. I have had my speed6 for a while now and want to do some mods. I am looking at installing a down pipe or a test/"race" pipe. Which do you suggest??\

I understand a test pipe is far easier to install. Is the Down Pipe something you can do on your own? and what are the gains from them???

Thanks guys!!

You could do a DP on your own buts its a long processs that is a pain in the ass IMO. And you would see much better gains from a dp instead of a tp. On the other hand its also a lot more expensive.

If you want to keep your warranty I would stick to the test pipe. If warranty isnt an issue for you then I would just have some quality technician install it for you if your a "newbie." I would love to be able to install one on my own but I dont really feel like moving my engine around to install it :(. I guess if your not afriad to do that then you can do it on your own.

I did a dp and rp, had a shop do it, only between $250-$300 worth of labor. Only hang up was they trashed the O2 sensor on the way out and I had to get a new one. Unless you are really worried about warranty (just racepipe for easy swap) go and do both!

thanks guys! appreciate it!! is there a noticable difference with the test pipe?? From what I have read, it says there is a better "growl" out of the exhaust as well.

I felt a difference. Out of all my mods so far I felt the most power gains from the test pipe. The car got a little bit louder on acceleration. Not a huge difference though. So far ive got catback exhaust / testpipe / CAI / engine mount / shifter bushings and the testpipe made the biggest difference imo. Cant wait for my new intercooler for xmas though. Im sure that will make an ever bigger difference.
