double exhaust

who actualy needs muflers anyways

just split the pipe right after the resonator
sure it might be alittle loud, but the only people that will complane would be old people, and what the hell do we care about old people anyways?:D

better yet, I could take the dump tube and it straight up through the hood. . .

Is that a Weber. . .hell no. . . Sweet!

"how can i mod my car so it's slower and doesn't sound as good?"

are you serious? you could always stick a cinderblock in your trunk and drive around if you just want to add weight....b/c that's all you're doing when you put a dual exhaust on an inline 4 cyl engine.

the "just hang a muffler in there and don't attach it to anything" idea was actually the best...these "mods" are all just for looks anyway.

and totally removing the exhaust will most likely NOT make your car faster, just louder. likewise, removing the muffler will only make the car sound like it's broken...exactly like that '89 tempo down the street with a hole rusted in the exhaust.

btw, a true dual exhaust is "dual" all the way from the engine back to the tailpipes...having pipes split from one muffler is still a single exhaust.

sorry for thread jacking but.........
dmitrik4 ,
how are those rims and tires holding up. everything good?

I understand. . .boy let's hope one day the other one drops. . .

You are absolutely correct on the "dual" statement. To be technically correct, I want dual tailpipes. . .that's all, for looks, and if done properly I fail to see how it would decrease the performance of the car.

Is there anything wrong with making a car look good? I think not.

You know, I've been playing around with that idea too. Actually I've been wanting to have the exhuast come straight out the side of the car, but it won't work. BTW the DGM CF Rear Valance peice has a cutout for the stock exhaust still. All I want to do is use the existing tail pipe and split it into two to make it look something like the WW. It doesn't look rice to me, but that's my opionion. The problem with this though is that I'm sure there is going to be a loss in power and a gain in weight.

USE A CROSS FLOW MUFFLER IF YOU WANT DOUBLE EXHAUST... THAT IS THE SAME AS USING DUAL TAIL PIPES.

therefore, no real losses.

when you say double, do you mean dual? like with two mufflers?
if so, then no, no it can't.

well really it can but it is rather pointless to have an exhaust pipe for every 2 cylinders. it would be like having 4 mufflers on the back of a V8 engine powered car.

actually, the old shelby cobra coupe has four mufflers. however, the set-up is two along each side of the car, not out the back.

nick,

the rims are great. i'm going to have the tires put on once i get back from Tail of the Dragon next week...i figure that will use up the rest of my current set. thanks again. how's the turbo project coming?

no, not at all. so long as you realize you're not really going to get any sort of performance gain by adding another muffler...some people seem to think more tailpipes = more power (or that bypassing the exhaust entirely will be beneficial...it's not the 70s anymore).

when done right, dual tailpipes look great, IMO.

i probably sounded harsher than i meant... :)

MIKE,
IT IS ALMOST DONE. IF YOU COME TO THE MEET ON THE 17TH YOULL SEE IT. but anyway without caps lock( hehe). your right down the road anyway so when its done ill stop by and show you.:D

dmitrik3, No offense taken. . .I just want the look. Nice comment about the 70s. . .thank gawd. . .but some people seem to think the 60s are back, but that's a whole different issue.

I'm guessing I'll be using a 1 in 2 out muffler (is that a crossflow?) and doing dual tailpipes.

Note: dgmotorsports also has the CF rear valence WITHOUT cutouts. They don't have dual cutouts, but none is better than one in this case. . .IMHO. The WW is a whole outer bumper piece (at least that is what they told me when I talked to someone there). I just didn't want to pay $300 to have it painted. So that made the DG seem all the better. I just need to find a good sounding muffler now that is 3" in and 2 outs!

From my probe... cost was 400 bucks at a local midas dealer.
