Has anyone replaced the plastic door sill covers on their p5 with metal ones. If so, what brands, did they fit OK, and any pics?

Also any link you would have to a website where I could get any that will work would be great.

MOMO has some nice ones but I haven't got em yet, they look like they would fit, but I truly have no idea.

now THAT sounds like a plan

I can see it now....first they will take forever to aquire from a dealer, second, they will still be plastic, third, the price will be OUT THE ROOF.

but they'll probably look kick ass.

I would like to see them end up being brushed aluminum and have the MS emblem either embossed into them OR even soemthing like the rear deck lid emblem on them...THAT WOULD be kick ass.

Iwas looking through an RK Sport catalog and I saw that they sell CF door sillls, and there pretty inexpensive. And since there CF they can trimmed to fit a 4-door sill. I might try it. Just go to Rksport.com

There is a thread on the Protege Club about the sill plates. (http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12591)

In summary, a Taiwanese company Hon Yu carries them, with or without lights. They have a Canadian distributor (in Edmonton) & he is selling them for USD$75 (without lights) & USD$120 (with lights) + USD$15 shipping.

I have seen this topic discussed on this board, protegeclub.com & toprotege.com. Looks like a great opportunity for group buy, even directly from Hon Yu or Mazda?!

I saw some really kick ass ones on ebay.....I don't remember if they were stainless steel or aluminum but either way they were metal.....they had a satin finish...and "Protege 5" was in relief in the center of them....and the P-5 wording was exactly like that script on the deck badge....they looked awsome. the auction was just starting and no bids yet...and it started at $75
