Door locks....

A friend of mine has a P5 and when he starts his car, the doors automatically lock. Mine does not do that. It's not a big deal but does anyone else have this feature

Yeah that's weird, he was in my car the other day and commented that my locks don't lock when the key is turned. Anyway his do, so I was just seeing what the response to this was.

NO, mine do NOT, and neither do my wifes....in fact its something that she mentions every once in a while.....our last car they would lock at 15 MPH.....and since the lock controls are on the drivers side...she is always telling me to lock the doors as soon as we hit the street....

I am wondering....when did your friend get his P-5?? is his one of the mid year releases? maybe this is one of those mid year changes that we some how missed talking about in the past seeing as how its not one of those OBVIOUS cosmetic things???

I have it, but it's one of many featues of my Clifford Millennia alarm.

we only have one dealership here and they still haven't had a refresh model (2002.5). And he doesn't have an alarm either. The only difference between his and mine is that his is an automatic.

that's odd. Mine lock everytime when I turn the ignition. Perhaps its the alarm I have in there. My dealer had a nice one in there that they give as an option to buy when I got the car. I bought, so perhaps that's whats locking my doors. For me I really like it, as I am paranoid about safety.

P5FeVer :D

Yeah mine lock to when I turn the car on. I left one of the windows down, so I got into my car and closed the door, and then turned the key and put the window up, when I went to get out of the car the doors were locked and I was like...:wtf: and then I figured it out.

well...

I have a 2002.5 and it does NOT do that. SO I am guessing it has something to do with the factory (or aftermarket) alarm.

Mine do as well but I did get a Clifford alarm a few day after I bought the car so I really do not remember if it did before that.

that's what it's looking like. I will check and see if he has a factory alarm. thanks for the input people.:)

if its the alarm that is doing it...its an AFTERMARKET alarm...I have the factory alarm.....and its doesn't do that.

nuke--

i have the factory alarm a 2002...not 2002.5...and mine does lock...just for everybody's information...i know the dealer told me how to change this when i picked it up...but i totally forgot now...does it possibly have something to do with being in valet mode versus secure mode??

hmmmm could be...it wouldn't be the first time that the dealer didn't know something about a feature of their car.....I THINK there is some information in the glove box about the alarm system...guess I will need to check it out when I get home.

maybe you can set it up like this with just the keyless entry too?

hmmmmmm

try turning the key 3 times...to change modes...that might change it...

I take it you mean turning the key with it in the door? or what?

I have never even put my key IN the doors lock! lol

oops...i meant the ignition...diddo on that...i've never touched the key hole...turn the car on/off 3 times...you don't have to turn it over just so the systems come on...i think this does something (switches modes) but i don't know exactly whats te bi difference...

NOPE...didn't do anything.....

Just got the book out of the glovebox...read the security system owners manual from front to back and inbetween the lines...all 6 pages of it...there is NO reference to it doing ANYTHING to the door locks during normal operation......now I am off to the REGULAR manual....I post if I find anything...or not!

Mine does lock the doors when i turn on the ignition, but i do have an aftermarket alarm, like most of the others that have the feature.

Now if anyone has the feature but no system, thats another story.
