Door Lock often won't unlock, physical key doesn't work

Mazda 3 (2010)
I have a 2010 Mazda 3 - whatever the standard model is, not a hatchback, not a Speed, no engine upgrade.

The door lock mechanism is faulty:

(1) At no time can the physical key ever unlock the driver side door. One must use the remote wireless mechanism. The physical key does lock the door if unlocked. Note that on this model of Mazda 3 the only keyhole is on the driver door - all other doors have no physical keyhole. Thus the car can only be unlocked wirelessly.

(2) If the car has been sitting for a while, the wireless unlock does not function (nor does the wireless lock, nor does the rear hood). Typically I have to stand there continuously holding down the unlock button for about 1 minute and then finally it unlocks. This behavior is really odd - it is almost as if the lock needs to "warm up" to function. Once it "warms up", the doors (both driver and all others) can usually be unlocked and locked repeatedly and function normally until the next time the car is left sitting for a couple of hours.

(3) Sometimes the wireless unlock will successfully unlock all 3 passenger doors, but the driver door remains stuck locked. Typically the driver door can be coaxed into unlocking in this case by repeatedly and alternately pushing the lock and unlock wireless buttons.

The car has 57k miles, and therefore is out of the 36k warranty. My question is whether someone knows what part of the lock mechanism needs to be replaced? Clearly the driver side door lock is faulty since the physical key does not work. But all of the doors won't open until the wireless mechanism "warms up", and this suggests a system wide electrical problem unless all the locks are controlled by the driver-side lock?

Any help would be most welcome, thanks.
