Dome light left on - noise? Auto-off?

When I was testing the CX-9 I intentionally left the dome light on and got out and locked the car. There was no warning beep and the light appeared to stay on indefinitely (I let it sit there 10+ minutes to see if it turned off automatically). Is there a way to change this? I would be happy with either it beeping at me to let me know, or else it turning off automatically after 5-10 minutes.

I don't know of any car that chimes when the dome light is on -- what if you have the light is set to door? The chime would always be beeping. and once the door is shut, what's the point? You can change it by sliding the light to "OFF" rather than "ON" or "DOOR".

Maybe "dome light" is the wrong word. I'm talking about the lights that you turn on by pushing on them. The idea is that I pull into a parking spot, turn on the lights to see my papers or whatever, and then accidentally leave them turned on when I'm exiting the vehicle. If it beeps, then I realize that I've left them on and turn them off. Or, it would be fine if they just shut off by themselves after 10 minutes so it didn't kill the battery. Yes, I have owned many vehicles that did have this type of beep.

Ah--the map light. I've never had a car that warns that the map light is left on.
