Does Anyone Have Transmission Problems?

I'm Trying To Find Out If Anyoone Has Experienced This Or Not.

Occasionally The Car Won't Go Into Reverse, Or When Its Warmed Up It Some Times Gets Stuck In Reverse.

Also Occasionally Its Hard To Shift Into Second Gear... Some Times The Shifter Will Slick Like Its In 2nd Than When You Let Out The Clutch And Give It Gas The Engine Freewheels Like Its In Neutral.

The Dealer Is Saying They "cannot Reproduce Customer Compalint" But Two Other People Including My Ase Certified Co-worker (we Work For A Huge Fleet) Drove The Car And Mentioned It.

Also The Dealer Is Denying My Claim About The Rear Suspension Clunk And Also Saying They Can't Reproduce The Noise. It Happens Every Time You Turn The Wheel And Accelerate The Car.

They Also Denied My Blown Subwoofer (not A Warrantiable Item, Supposedly), And They Wont Reprogram My Computer Because They Said It Doesn't Need It.

Sad Thing Is I Order Over $50k Worth Of Parts A Year From Thier Parent Company And I'm Sure Their Parent Company Is Going To Be Upset When I Suddenly Decide To Refuse Any Further Orders From Them. Other Sand Thing Is That I'm A Die Hard Nissan Fan And These Poor Experiences With Quality And Service Solidify My Beleifs.

Thats bulls***, i've had my rear swaybar bushings (the cause of the clunk) and sub replaced under warranty. fight em on it, but don't be an asshole or you won't get anything done.

As for the reverse thing, thats just one of the quirks of the tranny. If it won't go into reverse, put it in neutral let out the clutch then try again, that usually makes it much easier. From my understanding thats because the reverse gear doesn't have the same syncros and stuff as the forward gears, but i could be wrong about that.

I've never had a problem shifting from first to second, except for the occasional tendancy to grind (not the best speed-shifting setup stock).

edit: also, just FYI, you don't have to capitolize every word. makes the reading easier.....

Its Because I'm At Work And My Keybaord Is Stuck In Caps For The Programs I Use....

Thanks For The Info. I'm Not Being A Dick At All But The Thing Is The Guys There Know Me From All The Crap I Order For Work Trucks Yet They Still Mess With Me.... The Service Manager Even Said Mazda Sent Them Bullitens To Not Warranty This Stuff And Showed Me A Official Letter Head. I'm Going Back To My Original Dealership Who Said They'd Take Care Of Everything.

yeah, thats crazy. I know the stealership likes to argue about stuff, but there are tons of people on here who have had both the sub and bushings replaced, i had mine done bout a month or two ago. I guess try the other dealership.

i sometimes have a hard time putting it into reverse as well. i usually shift into another gear and then try again and it usually works.

try changing your tranny fluid. i changed mine from the stock one to Redline MT90 synthetic and it helped a bit.

as for the sway bars, if they don't want to do it, then do it yourself. just buy the bushings and the lube and do it yourself, it's not hard.

Occasionally The Car Won't Go Into Reverse,

I used to have this problem. But, now if it wont go into reverse, I will put the shifter into second, then put back in revese. This works great for me. (dunno) Give it a try.

i don't mind doing the work myself.... hell I built a sr20det powered 240z, a Sr powered 240sx, 2 350 powered z cars, and a rb20det swapped 240sx. Doing the work is not the issue its the fact that I bought a car with a warranty for a reason! I bought it for the reaaliability and the fact that the dealership would do the work until its out of warranty.

I've never had so many warranty denials... hell I've never had so many warranty claims.

I'll try Cardinale Way instead of the Bell Mazda I have been dealing with....

On the trans issue I do everything you guys do to get into gear, it works but it shouldn't happen in the first place.

i've definitely experienced the tranny issue.

i usually get really pissed and run through the other gears a few times.

since ive bought the car in august ive had nothing but problems with it, in and out of dealership. i hate this car and im going to trade it in for a reliable civic, the 06 si

you might raise the 2nd gear issue, cuz i don't think thats the common problem, i've personally never had that issue, and haven't heard it around here.... bushings and sub you should definitely try for a replacement, it shouldn't be a problem.

Everything But The Transmission Was Fixed.... I Got A Letter Of Apology From The Service Manager And The General Manager. So I'm Happy With The Results. I Even Got A Brand New Sway Bar In The Deal.... Also One Of The Techs Recommended Me Getting Kart Boy Shifter Bushings Because He Said It Might Fix The Shifter.

yup, they've been known to help. Glad you're happy with it. I really hope you don't trade it for a civic.... it really is a fun little car, just kinda quirky.

Nah, I Wont Trade The Car For A Civic.... I'm A Nissan Guy So It Would Be Something Nissan Offers. I Really Like The Car And I'm Going To Stand By It Unless It Becomes A Major Problem.

Yeah, the caps thing is cracking me up! I just got through replacing my tranny (for unrelated non-warrantied problem). See my sig for the shifter items I put in. Check out www.kartboy.com and www.corksport.com. The bushings did help some, as well as the synchromesh gear oil. However, I still have a problem once in a while with reverse. I just shift into 5th and then back. I've had this same problem with 4 or 5 different cars though, and even get it once in a while in my girlfriend's Accord, so it's not just limited to the Protege.

Well I'm Having More Problems With Second Gear.... Driving To Work This Morning It Popped Out Of 2nd Gear Accelerating On To The Freeway, I Hope This Isn't Going To Be A Persistant Problem.

The Car Goes Back To The Dealer For Them To Install A New Sway Bar So I'm Going To Bring The Tranny Issue Up Again.
