Are you talking about the Mazda3 17" wheels? If so 205/40 is gonna be really small, ScratchNSniff had that size and HATED it.

I also hated 205/40 - no sidewall whatsoever

I ran 215/45 for a while on my protege and it was relatively comfy, though there is increased likelihood of rubbing
