Dodge rips-off the Protege5?

But Mazda and Kia both admitted that Mazda sold design rights of the P5 to Kia at the end of P5 production. No big deal, no rip off.

the Kia Spectre5 is complete ripoff of the P5.

the fogs and rear lights look just like a pro5
they even put in a body kit and built-in subwoofer.

really? that is interesting! i learn something new everyday on this board. this board rocks!!

Oh well it's still a Kia. As for the Dodge, it also looks like they wanted to compete w/the Vibe and Matrix...

Atleast Dodge took our ugly brake calipers too!

Seriously though...I had a Neon before, it was a fun car but seemed to be built by a bunch of drunks with Dollar Store hand tools. But I will give Dodge this...look at the factory support for the SRT-4...Mazda could learn something there and really trump the rest of the import manufacturers. I was checking out the SRT-4 site a few weeks ago and they offer 3 turbo upgrades and a coilover setup -- fully warrantied and everything. How sweet would that be...considering there doesn't seem to be huge aftermarket support for Mazdas -- at least not as much as Hondas.

Just my .02

But how much does that cost? Probably way overpriced coming from the dealer?!

Matrix=overweight p5 :)

Protege5 Rip off

The Kia Spectra5 is a TOTAL P5 rip-off.

Don't knock on Dodge too much. My P5 replaced a Dodge, and it wasn't a bad car, just somewhat unrefined at the time (97 Stratus). Chrysler-Benz has a lot of good ideas, and I think the Caliber could have some impact in international markets.

Personally, Spectra5 and Caliber aside, I'm glad to see the comeback of hatchbacks and wagons. Um, today it's "5-door sedans" i guess. Had 83 Civic, 92 Civic, then Stratus. After the Stratus I vowed I'd never own a car with a conventional trunk again, it's just such a waste. Even in my 83 Civic, it was AMAZING how much stuff I could pack into it!

I personally got it for the looks, even though it could carry a lot of stuff.

So hatchback > sedan, imho.

its just a dodge it will still fall apart in 50k miles

Try again...My trucks got 60k and nothings been touched. ;)
That looks nothing like a P5. It looks like another new SUV crossover. I wouldnt even compair that to a P5. P5 is a car...this thing is like a SUV. Big difference there.

lol yeah, that thing has 19's stock (shocked). It would be funny to try those on a P5.

*sings* "dubs on a Cadillac..."

This is simply not true. How many times do we have to go through this? These are NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY! Read the fine print sometime.

BTW they offer a Stage 3R now good for 500 hp. Guess what though, NOT WARRANTIED! Go on the SRT boards sometime and read about all the dumb people that though this and how they are having to shell out big bucks to get stuff fixed because they didn't read the fine print.

Even the salesperson and sales manager told my wife that all this stuff was warrantied when we bought her SRT4, but when she asked if they would put it in writing, they changed the subject real quick.
