It was in the news yesterday or so, this guy in Washington State was stopped by cops and given a ticket that says he was clocked going 142 mph in 65 zone. He was driving a Neon! Not SRT, but an plain looking Neon, it didn't look modified at all, stock wheels, couldn't see the exhaust, tho. He said he was shocked and claimed that he was going about 100 mph, and he was racing with a couple of other cars. Idiot that he was, a Neon going 142 mph has got to be heresy, or is it??!

hmmm interesting stuff

the first gen neon ACR could get to 130 mph before it was drag limited.. neon sport, r/t, highline(base) etc are rev limited to 118 though.

I still wonder if there was no rev limiter, can a base Neon can hit 142. It looked only a couple of years old, but all Neons look same to me, lol.

That's what I thought! I think the cops were on espresso, not the car. LOL

What's more interesting is how you get all the rep points by just one post. (sun)

My R/T was not limited @118. With an AFX race ecu (8100 rev limiter) I have pegged the speedo @ 120 and ran 5th up another 2500 rpms before it stopped pulling, had to be damn close to 140-145...as much as you guys don't like them, don't feel bad when a first gen smokes your ass. I would put my old neon against my MSP in a drag anyday...

I forgot what they could do. The speedo does stop at 120. And it was pegged many times in my friends first gen acr. For what they are, they are cool.

Hopefully not for $$$ :P

Yep, this girl I'm messing with Drives a Dodge Neon SXT...that s*** tops at 130...faster than my N/A Protege that's for sure, that's pretty damn depressing

How she sits now (almost stock) I would think about it. Once I finally get somewhere to work on my car though, I wouldn't :) Definately more cheap power in the MSP, but light bolt-ons did wonders on my old car.

Quick! Dump her now! Otherwise you will be sucked in for partially paying for her weekly unscheduled visits to the service department. (blowup)
