My how things come full circle

Funny you should post this image as I recently read an article on candadiandriver's site which compared the dimensions of the mazda5 to the first dodge caravans; it was very close. Just goes to show how huge 'mini' vans have become.

They've already done a Turbo Caravan.

Make it a Dodge Caravan SRT-8 and they might sell some units!

I wanted so badly to gut my mom's 2000 voyager to bare bones inside and throw a v8 in it!! Call me wierd, but, I'da had a blast smoking civics in a minivan!

I worked for a Chrysler / Dodge store in '89...used to love accelerating around a tight corner in a Turbo Caravan and watching the inside tire smoke. I don't know what possessed Dodge to take the powerplant from an Omni GLH and stick it in a minivan. Not a lot of fun, but I guess vans aren't supposed to be.

Don't be so pessimistic :D. If the concept has gone to production somewhere else, I don't see why not here. Just take a look of the Mazda5 itself, What other "mini-mini vans" offer the sporty factor this one has? I think the closest (in NA) is the Rondo, and that thing sucks-n-blows at the same time ;). In my case my family priorities have changed with regards to transportation yet those cars have still given us (wife and I) some Zoom-Zoom factor no other car gives (i.e. Manual Tranny, OEM nice 17in wheels, great handling)

Oh, and just to emphasize my production comments, check this out (Opel/Vauxhall Zafira VXR, OPC) (cool):

after two crappy Chrysler minivans there's no way I'd ever buy another. The Mazda5 has been great so far, only real problem has been sliding door actuator that was fixed under warranty.

Not that big of a stretch, they should have a pissed off vendor for those wheels- as they wont be using many anymore since they discontinued the Magnum, lots of dash parts, SRT anything and everything, I like it- it will be fast, drink gas, rattle!

I do believe are still similar on the Caliber SRT (not that I would buy one (lol2)), but yeah, the wheels are cool.

(iagree)

Lol. My friend used to have a nicely built 383 in a 3rd gen Camaro. Well, the car got hit bad from behind so he put the motor in a stripped 1500 work van. There was a couch bungee corded in the back and two front seats, thats it.

That thing was a rocket for its size. He used to go around and **** with people non-stop, it was great. I can't describe how funny it was to watch a full-size van walk a kid in a civic or the likes...the look on the kids face was priceless

We actually owned 4 dodge peices of...i mean products. I think we had the new one everytime the body changed on em till 2000. All 4 of em, AC cut out the week after warranty expired. I swear they have a button at the factory they push when the warranty is up
