you guys all have manuel????
i'm driving an auto...
will it make any difference???
i know i'm trying to be stupid..=P..but if you boost her up to 5000 to 6000 rpm in auto...will it harm the gearbox???
cause i'm sure manuel won't....=P

It's not gonna hurt anything.
For example, Cruise slowly up until about 15 MPH, after cruising at that speed for a few seconds, floor it. Your transmission will (hopefully) downshift to first...
Watch the Tachometer, it should get somewhere near or at the redline before it hits second gear. On a stock drivetrain, the tranny should be able to handle anything the engine puts out. :)

I rev the engine up pretty good most of the time. Try autocrossing if you wanna see the rev limiter get hit a couple times in a day. Racing every other weekend, I run second gear up to almost 60mph. That's really pushing the revs up around and over 7k. She still runs like a top and purrs like a kitten.
I love this car.

What is autocrossing? am i stupid? Should i know what that means:confused:

basically autocrossing is kinda like track driving....a bunch of people usually get together in a BIG open lot set up cones and drive around them timing everybody...you'll see some cool cars there and great drivers...corvettes, integras, etc..etc...it's pretty much limitless as to the cars and people you'll see there...

I would love to try Autocrossing. I been through the NASCAR driving school and the Ivor Wigham's European Rally School. (which are both well worth the money, I might add) Being in Orlando, though, the only thing we have is a 1/4 mile track. Everytime a bunch of enthusiasts get together to just get together and hang out and share knowledge the Orange County Sheriff's Dept thinks there is going to be a lot of illegal activity (i.e street racing, fighting, etc) Granted, a lot of people act stupid but that shouldn't ruin it for the rest of us who just enjoy being around other "car nuts". Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

fortunately for you OurP5...most if not all autocross events are for the most part organized and legal...they all have permits and such...one i went to even had some cops there watching...

Check out www.scca.org. I know florida has a ton of SCCA racers. The weather is too nice not to. For around $20 you get an organized, timed competition, and best of all, you will probably beat a subaru or two in the process. :)
Look for SOLO II on the website. That is what autocroos is.
Hope that helps!

Wow I must be getting a deal...with my membership in my local club...it costs 12 bucks for about 6 hours of great times...not a bad deal! :)

Ours is $15 as a member, $25 for non-members. We have had issues in the past with low attendance, but this year we seem to be making up for it. With 100+ people coming to events I would hope we can make some money for new equipment this year!

Yeah, the car doesn't like to go to high rpms (get's very shaky and noise) but it doesn't mind. Recently, I was racing a civic (stock with custom exhaust) and accidentally took it past 7K. Felt kinda sorry for my car, plus the civic that I wasted :D .
