DIY Turbo in W/pics

Those are some really good prices, can I order threw you?

How did you get the oil back in the pan?

Looks good

I would be more than happy to try and help people find the deals i got on stuff. Just ask me if you have any thing like this you need

I used a bulkhead connector. You drill a hole in your pan, it goes throught the hole and a nut goes on the inside. Then you just attach your fitting to the outside.
Im going to take some pics under the car this weekend to show that stuff.

I forgot to mention something else about my car. Here is a pic when I bought it.

Only had about 5k on it too. Pretty good find for $3000. Had about another $3000 in fixing it.

So basically i've got a pretty sweet, turboed car with only about $7000 in it.

How about instead of free, a pretty good deal? I could probably make you the same set up as me (mani and down) for about $400? I'd have to buy the stuff that I got for free, but I think that sounds fair.

Also I'd do it with an external wastegate so you dont have to change your thermostat housing.

All of my piping is schedule 80 so its almost 1/4" thick. Its solid as hell!

You did a great job on everything, you are skilled.

Thanks man. Being a perfectionist sometimes is good. Other times when youve made three downpipes because they were a little off or something, thats when it sucks. :)

have a shot of the undercarriage by chance? I'd love to see your exhaust set-up. Looks really nice man. You can't beat a good DIY project.

I didnt take any yet 'cause I havent had time to jack it back up since I got the digital camera back. This weekend I was going to finish up all the intercooler piping (right now it's just from the turbo to the intake) But UPS didnt show up with all of my new piping on friday. So this nice long three day weekend is all shot now. I was going to do all of the piping and then have it powdercoated probably a gunmetal. O well I'll just do it after work this week then.

Could you tell me were you got the bulk head adapter and what it looks like exactly?
I'm not sure on what it is exactly and can't find anything like it locally.

A bulkhead connector is.... how do i describe this. You drill a hole. Then this adapter goes through the hole. The side that goes through will have a washer or an "O" ring on it. Then you put a nut on the inside and tighten it down. Then on the outside you have a female NPT fitting to attach a line to.

I'll try to find a picture for you of one, or i'll make a quick one on pshop.

here are some pics off of mcmaster carrs site.

If you cant find ne, let me know and I'll locate one for you. Just let me know what size you need. Makes it easier than trying to weld on a bung.

hmm i need a 5/8 connector. i am at the site but damn there are alot of sections. ...wait nm i just found it. thanks alot dude.

just an update; put in new colder plugs, loaded up with premium gas, adjusted the pop off and FMU, and now boosting at 8psi. This car is unbelievably fun. I wish I had the stick and not the auto though. Kind of lags off the line.

Cars beat so far:
Early 90's grand prix w/3.1L
late 90's eclipse non turbo
2004 stratus coupe
late 90's cirrus w/V6

Its actually kind of annoying that everybody wants to race you. They hear the pop off, and then start messing with you. So then you gotta hit it on them, then the wife starts yelling at you, and the kids are like "go, go dad!".

This car is gonna get me in trouble now I know it.
