Dixie National Tour Aftermath

Having track would help in those situations. Being familiar with higher speeds while approaching an element and being able to gauge things does get easier.

That said, Sunday (and Saturday), really had some instances of checking how big your minerals are.

I think it will help you alot when you get to ride with someone (Brett) and then you can say "wow, I didn't know the car could do that" that can give you the confidence to trust the car.

He's still getting used to the car, but he's getting faster and faster. I've already had a few of those "holy crap how'd you do that" moments.

I did not have a very good weekend. The courses would have been great if I'd been in a car I was remotely familiar with, but my first time driving the MS3 was when I took it to the start line on Saturday afternoon. While I'm all for a course that lets a car "stretch its legs" so to speak, the courses were awful for a comparison between the capabilities of the DS-lemming-ITR and the MS3. I would have been fine with my 7th place finish if I felt I'd driven remotely well, but neither Scott nor I put on a very good show this weekend.

So, I have no idea what that car is really capable of. Not being convinced it won't be dog meat, I can't justify pulling the trigger for one. Oh well.

Congrats to everyone who did well!

My god, flat out in 3rd gear. That had to have been fun!

Muff, sounds like you learned more about driving with trailers than driving the things on the trailers.

You pretty much expressed everything I was going to say about my experience at Dixie.

My first time in the car I ran (STS2 miata) was also Saturday morning driving in grid.

Again, my sentiments exactly. I wasn't about to try and test the limits of my buddy's miata and mess up his car. I've only shifted into 3rd once in my 5 years of autocrossing. I had to do it on every run Saturday and didn't get it even remotely right. Didn't feel comfortable trying something for the first time in a car I'm very unfamiliar with. So Sunday, I basically drove like I was heading to church. After the turnaround, I kept my foot off the accelerator so I would not hit top of 2nd and then just cruised through the second half. Screwed the finish up all 3 runs. Had to make sure I made a clean run on my 3rd so Amaff wouldn't overtake me (naughty)

I think I'm done with codrives for now. I need to learn how to drive my own car for a change! :)

I didn't realize there were so many people from this forum that were there. Good job to everyone. It was definitely fun!

It seems that many of the events that I've attend have several members of this board in attendance. That's rather impressive. What Miata were you driving?

In regard to third gear, I've spent a bit of time in 3rd on various local courses, but I've never been there as much as I was on these courses. Talk about a lot of fun. The entry speed into the right hand turn after the "bump" Sunday was insane. I think I left a significant amount of my rubber on the asphault as I tended to botch the downshift.

LMAO I know right?

Yeah but you're on 13s

SGMP courses = 3rd gear.

I was telling everyone Friday night but no one believed me until Saturday morning....

So with all these folks that came down for Dixie, who's up for the DoubleX (Pro) in May?

I think I may or may not have worked course with moxnix.

Station 5 4th heat?

I plan to be there again. Just need to figure out my ride situation for the event with the car owner not planning on coming but I plan on registering for the event and then figuring that out later.

If y'all just need a place to stay or a ride, let me know. I already owe Katie a ride for letting me use the P5 @ DC, so there's that option. Want to run an STS2 car in CSP? lol

Thanks for the offers. I'll keep that in mind as an option.

Please do this!

Sounds like somebody is not sure if he will be making a class yet.

Ah, right. I forgot about last year when Kevin got pushed to the Bump class.
