I talked to Moxnix earlier today and he and his co-driver are on the road now. Hopefully he'll bring back some of that warm weather with him. :) He says he ended up dropping down to 5th from his 4th yesterday and Chike also dropped from 8th to 9th. I don't know what positions Maff and his co-driver ended up in after today. Someone snapped a pic of the RX-8 Moxnix is co-driving:

I wish I could have found you guys to say hi! :)

Unfortunately, I coned away a trophy only to settle in at 7/12 in CSP. Argg. I finished Saturday in at 5th with only 0.9 seconds from first. My co-driver trophied, so at least the car has what's needed.

Regardless, the course was a blast and I had some serious third gear pulls.

I'll cross post this, as I had a very 'trial by fire' kind of weekend. And the word aftermath is very appropriate. Please keep in mind, this was posted around 2:30 this morning...

Came in NOT DFL (but close....) in my first tour on a brand spanking new setup. We basically used the event as a test and tune and got the car dialed in pretty well. After a few events with the car, and learning to have a heavier right foot, I think we'll be doing better.
Here's the fun part. Loaded the miata on the trailer to head back. Stopped in Macon for dinner, no problems. After dinner, I took over driving duties. Take into consideration this is the 2nd time I've ever driven a vehicle with a trailer. About 15 minutes north of Darkness Macon,ga HUGE vibrations. The driver's side trailer tire let go. I manage to shut it down slowly and get to the shoulder. It was about 9:45 or so and we didn't have a spare.
We assess the damage and head back to macon hoping the walmart (only place really open on a Sunday night) had trailer wheel/tires. They did not. So we drive a half hour north to Jackson where there's a truck stop. They don't have 15" tires, but they can mount one if we get it. Drive up another 15 minutes north to McDonough (sp?) to another Walmart to get a tire. Back to the truck stop where I see a guy w/ 2 huge 'spoons' do the fastest tire mounting I've ever seen. BY HAND! We slip him $30 and head back to the trailer. Get everything back together at about 11:45-12. I resume my driving stint and we start heading back up towards the A. Well, everything went well until we hit my off ramp. Again, BAD vibrations coming from the vehicle. Tire pressure monitors didn't report anything, so it probably wasn't the truck. Anyway, I baby it the 5 minutes to the house. The OTHER trailer tire had a chord let go internally. We backed the trailer into my garage and remove the wounded wheel. The damn tire was egg shaped... And now I'm here at 2:30 posting up.

Oh, and the muffler fell off of the miata while Brett (my codriver) was en-route to the gas station to add about a gallon. Better there than on course I suppose...

Good news is that we are SO under driving the car. The few tweaks have literally made it 150% better than it was last weekend. The Potenza RE-01Rs are absolutely amazing. WAY better than the Azenis RT-615s. It's also about 3/4" shorter, which gives us much better effective gearing. Sure, they're a little more expensive, but you're definitely getting what you paid for.

Son of a b****, it's been one hell of a weekend. I had a GREAT time at my first national tour. Sure, didn't quite do as well as I would have liked, but my list of excuses is long. The #1 reason? Not driving fast enough ;) Granted, an autocross with TWO shifts to third and back is a bit outlandish haha.

Ok...I'm rambling, tired as s*** and have work in the morning. The caffeine's finally starting to wear off, so I think it's about time to hit the ol' road.

We basically turned Sunday into a test session. We were already really far back and didn't have anything to lose by trying a few things. We learned that increasing rear rebound actually made the car 'tighter', which was VERY weird. Until you remember that compression would make it looser, and so it was actually what we SHOULD have expected to happen. So we put the rears back to where they were and turned the fronts up a bit and the car felt REALLY good. I'm kinda ticked I won't be able to run her for another month and a half because all we did was get faster and faster in the car, but what can you do? ;)

And on a final note: I've NEVER had a car that can attack a slalom like the miata can now. Sum'bich, she will straight up DANCE now :D

The 07 MX-5 MSR package car driven by DiSimo looks like a freaking CSP car out on course. He put 2 seconds on us on day one.

I had an awesome time.

Congrats on the trophy Wayne. You're car's getting famous for that inside front wheel lift LOL

I know Cembor was taking a boatload of pictures. He said he should have them up later tonight.

I waved to you a couple of times.

That pic of the RX-8 is in the street setup they are missing the gold wheel *BLING* of the racing wheels.

they were pretty bling ;). They looked really goo tho. What time did y'all get back? You probably beat us...

Got back to Chike's house at 1:30 this morning. Spent the next 1/2 hour trying to register for the DC Pro since for some reason it did not seem to be working on my phone on the trip home. Then found out we were not the only ones with problems and went to bed around 2:30 after unloading the car. Got up this morning and drove 3 hours to work and had to stop midway to register for the DC Pro on my phone.

I tried registering for DC as well. It still doesn't seem to want to work, though the entry list is already up to 200! Any idea what the cap is? I honestly won't lose any sleep if I miss out, however.

Fax in now and get on the wait list if you want to go. Last year they took everybody from the wait list and upped the cap to 250.

I think I have photos of the Moxnix car, not sure if I have any of Wayne since I think he was running when I was working.

No photos of Team ShumiWell either as they ran same time I did.

I was seventh in STX going into Sunday and drove like a b**** on that course. It took a big set of balls to be fast on that course and mine just were not big enough. So I lost a position to eighth. Considering that 5 of the 7 people ahead of me have trophied either at Nationals or Tours I am not disappointed. It was a stout class and this was my second time in the car, with a busted ass seat no less.

I am satisfied with my position.

I know right? I know the car would have been able to take the esses flat footed in 3rd gear, but every time I'd get there my brain would send an "ABORT! ABORT! PUNCH OUT NOW!" signal to my right foot. And ever time I'd get back to grid and go damn, I should have stayed in it.

I agree. I was not one with the car just yet and slowed way down on day 2 (first heat did not help)

One of the biggest problems that I had was trying to figure out where the limits are on a car that's way better prepared than anything I've ever driven on a course where I was going at those kinds of speeds. Then again, excuses excuses. We didn't get nearly 100% out of the car.
