Display/Nav auto dim

There is a setting that allows the display to autodim depending on the light outside. Mine seems to recently be stuck on always dim. I am guessing there is a censor that is covered by debris that makes the unit think it is always dark outside.

Anyone know where this is? Or have other ideas?

Thanks!

I was under the impression that it is based on the headlight sensor. Do you leave your headlights on all of the time? You can force it brighter using the dash brightness post in the instrument cluster.

Nope my headlights do not stay on all the time....

I can force it to daylight mode but I would rather have it auto switch.

Any chance your dashboard light switch is turned all the way down? I have no idea if that does anything to the center display, but if turning it all the way up keeps it bright, maybe turning it all the way down turns it dim. Or check your illumination settings in the center display setup. I think it's under vehicle and then the sensor for lights, if it's set to the lightest setting it might make the center display dim. And just to make sure, do you have the nav settings on Auto for brightness?

Auto dim seems to work with headlights. Whether lights are set to auto or not. Lights on-dim. Lights off-bright. Try adjusting the setting that controls when the auto lights actually come on-sensitivity. There is another section to adjust the brightness level. I personally like to have at least parking and daytime lights on in everything except daylight. Which then dims screen and makes back up camera almost us less. I will try and mess around with my settings a little. Note. None of these things are available while driving.
