disappointed with 1/4 mile times...ideas?

The sacrifices you make in weight for the all-wheel drive will prove to be a benefit in the fact that you get to drive it year-round.

This car, the fat b**** it is, was never meant to be a track queen. You can modify and have some fun with it though. I learned a few years back that there is always going to be a car faster than what I've got. So now I just have fun. And like I said earlier, at least you're not driving a Neon anymore.

He now has power rear windows. That alone was worth the switch.

LOL, yeah, you should remember that Elevation plays a huge role.
I was really dissappionted when i got 15.1 on 1/4 mile. but then realized that my shifting is slow, cause i was getting 1.8 secs at the 60' even got a 1.7' running on summer performance tires, and dropping it at 5000 rpm. so finally someone "teached" me.
and still only got 14.6 secs with other speed 6's running about the same.
but the elevation here in calgary is 3,200 feet. so when i see guys getting like 14.0 or 13.9 DANM I wish i could just once.

and i beat a srt-4 neon ill post the video even when i get home from work.

I am at roughly 4200' above sea level. so I guess my 14.4 isnt to bad then. I tried riding out 4th gear, but that definately did not help, that yeilded a 14.9. It was almost 100 degrees out that day as well. Temps on the track were over the 100 mark. from the sounds of it I really shouldnt be that disappointed.

It is a neon I never denied that...I always hated hearing that BS from SRT4 owners. Bang for the buck it was definately a great car though. I caught it on fire, hit a cow with it, slide it of the road in the winter (ex-wife actually) and slammed it into a wall. It never let me down and got 30 MPG! I miss it for sure.

Your elevation and the Ambient temperature are certainly not helping matters. I don't have the equations infront of me but there is a wAy to compensate for temperatures in your track times. Do you have a downpipe and a stock cat back? The downpipe is good but you are still chocki g your exhaust

Yeah the cat back is stock...I cant come up with the extra cash to dump on a exhaust system. Is there any similarity between the Speed6 and the regular 6 dual exhaust? The rear section in paticular.

Catback wont help much. I guess you could argue backpressure but the stock catback is not bad. You could always stick in straight pipes and replace the muffler for a cheap alternative.

So is anyone going to post their method for the track? I'm waiting to hear the specifics on how people are getting this car to move in the 13s. What are you launching at? Shifting at? Tires? PSI? Any weight reduction?

14.7 @ 96 was my best this summer. but i'll admit that i need the driver mod.

but the speed's not meant for drag racing. IMHO, your on the wrong track bro.

autoX is far more fun, and with good tires you can be competetive. but that doesnt really answer your question now does it(lol)

electric cutout for the track ;)

I did 13.6 @ 97 with nothing but a CAI. I took the spare / all junk out. Launched at 4k feathered off at 3500 ish. Maybe it was a fluke of nature but was my first and best run. My IC was sprayed just before the run courtesy of my friend who was running his evo. I ran 3 times with my other 2 being 13.9's. I normal shifted 1-3 and power shifted 4rth and 5th to try and keep that turbo spooling. Guess it worked.

I WOT shifted through every gear. It is consistant in thed 14.4 range. I will wait until it cools down a little bit and take it out again. I pulled the passanger seat and removed the spare...still ran a 14.4x. Its consistant as hell, but irritating at the same time.

IMO it's pretty hard on the car to get a Speed6 into the 12s at all, but it can be done. I made 2 runs @ 12.9x/105.x and decided that was the last time I needed to do it. I had my launch control set @ 4800 rpm and basically just let go the clutch. I didn't side-step it and let it pop, but I did let it out real quick. The car doesn't like it at all, but left like a rocket with only a little squeak from the tires. I have a mark on the floor pan just above the rear diff front mount where it hit the floor on launch. I ran awesome 60 footers in the high 1.5(1.55 and 1.57 sec) for a big 3500lb car. I figure that since the car stayed together and I saw the numbers I wanted to see, any more was just asking for something to break. Oh, and I'm in coastal Virginia @ ~200-300 ft above sea level with low 70s air temps that day. And with that, I'm DONE with race track launches for the Speed6. No need to mess with success! Street grip is much less though and gets lots of wheel spin, so not quite as hard on the car, but....

do you not have any diff mounts forzda?

Yep, I have the SU upper rear mount, but I sold the TT front diff mount I had bought in the group buy. Didn't install it. The upper rear mount prevents(well, we hope) the twisting that kills the axles and I didn't think the front mount was necessary and still don't... Personally, I think it(added with the Upper mount) makes the rear diff mounting a bit too rigid for regular street use, although I do have the TT front engine mount! I've never had the loose bolt issue associated with the rear diff front mount. I pulled them out, cleaned, added LockTite and torqued 'em down when I first bought the car....

Danm i would like to beat my 14.6 sec time on stock.
Now i didnt power shift any gears and run through 4th.
but i also took the plastic cover off on the intercooler. but some guy said that will make it worse. Is this true, he said the plastic cover and shroud gives it better airflow from the hood, and no heat soke from the engine, maybe ill leave it on next time. see what happens.

Yes! Leave all the IC duct work and shroud installed. You're still going to get heat soak if the car is not moving forward. I'm thinking it will be tough to beat your established time without upgrading some parts. Barring that, I recommend you clean out the car and trunk of ALL loose items including the spare tire/jack; drive it until the low fuel light comes on; raise all tire pressure to ~40 psi; bring a sprayer full of ice water and spray the IC down just prior to staging; launch @ 4k rpms; and power shift(no throttle lift) all gears @ 6000-6200 rpm.

Assholes (upyours)

14.60 at 95 is about all I could muster, but that was with just CAI and CBE. I haven't made a pass since all my new mods. I was hitting the lag on shifts cause I drive NA, now with feathering the gas and clutch during 1-2 and 2-3 shifts I seem to be putting the power down much better. We'll see what happens when I get back to the track.

This is pretty much what I'm thinkin. A car in the 13s is faster than anything on the street, the only stuff that will be faster are people who take the time to have a faster car. But high 14s and you have to watch out for ******* almost stock Civics, which imho is completely unacceptable. If I can be in the mid to hi 13s I'll be satisfied, I don't need to rip on the track after that really. Maybe a pass here and there, but not all the time. If I want a track car I'll buy and old Mustang and beat the piss out of that, for a hell of a lot cheaper.
