Disable iPod integration on 2007 Mazda3 and re-enable AUX jack?

2007 Mazda 3 s Touring
I have a funny question. I bought the Mazda iPod Integration kit for my 2007 Mazda3 s Touring back when I first got the car ~6 years ago. It was great for a long time, but it's become obsolete (doesn't work well with iPhone, doesn't work with iPhone podcasts, etc.). I would like to disconnect the iPod integration kit and switch back to using the car's AUX connector. I'd like to do the work myself but I haven't been able to find any installation guides, etc., for the Mazda iPod Integration module. Does anyone know how to make this change or where to find the relevant documentation?

Thanks,
jmaha

Easy peesy fix. You need a phillips head screwdriver and about 10 minutes (if that). The OEM ipod adapter and the ACI use the same plug, so when the ipod adapter was installed they simply unplugged the ACI from the HU.

Open the glove compt.

Grab the bottom of the decorative trim strip towards the left side of the glove compt. and pull backwards. There are 3-4 tension clips holding it in and a hook on the far right. Either release all the clips and slide the hook out or pop loose the ones to the right of the LCD and then gently bend the strip to release the hook

Remove the two phillips head screws holding in the stereo (don't need to remove the ones holding the upper dash piece on)

Grab the top of the HU and pull towards the back of the car to release the tension clips (don't pull on the face plate as it may come loose)

Have a blanket or towel to put under the HU so that it doesn't scratch the HVAC faceplate while it's hanging out. It's heavy so you'll need to keep it supported.

Unplug the ipod adapter from the plug on the driver's side of the HU (the large one on the passenger side is the main harness)

Look around and find the ACI plug which fits the port you just freed up. It's likely tucked behind a panel or tied off to another harness to prevent rattling.

Plug it in and put everything back together and you're done.

I am in need of the exact same solution. I also drive a 2007 Mazda 3 with the ipod integration and would like to remove the ipod integration in the center console and install a regular aux jack instead.

These directions don't mention anything about what to do with the 30-pin head that sits next to the cigarette lighter at the bottom of the center console.

This is what my dash looks like: dash
