Direct swap speakers

Hello, its possible that this question has been asked before....What speakers are a direct swap & play that are a substantial improvement over the standard issue speakers for my Mazda2 Sport ?

I don't think there is a direct swap as the Mazda speakers have a built in mount/spacer that is wider than a 6 1/2 inch speaker. You will need a custom spacer to attach a speaker and some very minor electrical work on the wiring (remove the Mazda clip and solder/crimp new connectors/wiring).

I used Polk DB 6501 components for the front and DB 651S coaxial for the rear. The 6501 comes with an adapter that makes it very easy to install (nearest to a direct replacement). Just need to re-drill one hole on the adapter to make it fit. In hind sight, instead of the slim DB 651, I would have used the DB 651 in the rear since the slims required a custom made wood spacer while the DB 651 comes with its own adapter. That would have saved me a lot of time. The speakers sound very good especially when coupled with a small portable amp. I am using an older version of this:

What an incredible difference in sound when using an iPod with the amp!
