Byter! :p Cool, thanks for letting me know your experience w/this combo. I can't wait to get this in and installed! Unfortunately the chances of ME actually getting to do the install is slim to none since I'm married to a technician. I'm like, let me do the install, he's like, sha! whatever, you don't have professional training! Oh well, maybe I need to get some decals. :p Gotta get that 20+ hp boost off a couple of APC logos right?! (laugh)

Edit: Hey where do you guys get the graphics for the rollcall of vendors you've used? I'd like to start a red rollcall on my car down the side and of course I'd like to get the AEM and Racing Beat. Dave do you sell/provide those as well?
clownphish, you go this installed yet?

Personally I would go for Hks. Look At It like this If you like the stock looking look then go with rb. if you like the stock looking sound when you not pushing it and dont want to be notice then go with rb. They both basically do the same thing and give you around the same amount of horse power but i personally like the big muffler look and sound with ni style so i would go with hks.wichever one u choose would be a smart choice...

From my experience checking out other people's Proteges:

Racing Beat: More quiet, better(less...noticable;)) if you plan on getting a header.
HKS: Lighter weight, more "growling" sound, looks JDM with the offset tip.
JIC Bullet: The best you can buy. ;) You know what I'm saving up for.

Also, I gotta put in a good word for BlueMP5Dave. He's one of the most honest, knowledgable guys around this forum, and he's damn cool too! You can feel safe dealing with him over the intrawab.(thumb)

EDIT: I agree with idrivemazda in that either choice is a good one.(spin)

Dave,

I have a 03 ES and would also like the racingbeat exhaust - do you have a picture of one installed on the ES - Is there a big gap between the outlet and the bumber.

racing beat? you godda be kidding!

Are we are talking about the racing beat exhaust that comes standard on my MSP? (hand) I love my car but the exhaust is the 2nd thing to go after the bulky stock intake. Way too restrictive, and sounds lousy! Other MSP owners have actually reported the muffler breaking in half. (hah) I haven't experienced it personally, but stick with a company that specializes in air flow technology. (thumb) Just my 2 cents. Opinions are like assholes...Everybody's got one and they all stink.(Mine included) (drive)

Racing Beat Catback is a mandrel bent 2.375 or 60mm piped catback system with a straight through design resonator and a different larger muffler. The MSP axle back works off of the stock crushed bent crappy 2" tubing and is 2" all the way to the muffler. Believe me ther is a large difference in the MSP stock exhaust and the Racing Beat catback.

Here is a pic of my last car a redmica ES with the Racing Beat exhaust installed if I could do it again I would have purchased another one for my Pro5.
