Diff Bolts

I've been reading about the rear diff bolts tending to shear or break or simply come loose, and that it seems to be quite a chore to replace or repair them yourself.

Is there anywhere that has some photos of this? Or any info on what grade bolt Mazda uses from the factory?

unless you drive your car hard all the time, its a real small chance they will sheer off.

if you do plan on driving hard often, just upgrade the rear diff mount, i believe it comes with new bolts too? or you can get new beefier ones yerself.

Ahh. So the random backroad bomb or the unlikely autox shouldn't cause them to shear....good to know.

Any other serious rear end issues to look for?

The two bolts are super easy to get at it. It's the entire mount that is a nightmare to change.

I changed to the turbine tech rear mount. When I did I found my bolts were barely past finger tight. You don't have to abuse the car for them to come loose. Once they do the chances for breaking them or the diff housing goes way up.

uh, i guarantee your "barely finger tight" bolts is unique.
this is most definitly not the common problem... you either had recent work done and they werent tightend right, or yours just happens to be 1 of thousands that somehow loosend up.

the sheered bolts have always occured from MS6 drivers who drove their cars consistently hard, track often, drag often, WOT often.
