Here is a place to post info you might not have known about the RX8

Did you know you can re-program the behavior of the Air Conditioning (A/C) in your RX-8?

Many 8 owners have complained about the performance (or lack there of) of the 8s Air Conditioning as being anemic and lacking vigor. Particularly early models. Well, you can change that.

Now first of all, this only works on cars produced after 09/2003. If you have a very early production model you need to get the original A/C amplifier replaced under TSB 07-002/04.

To improve the performance of your A/C do the following:

1. Make sure the car is off AND the HVAC fan is off AND the A/C on/off button is off.

2. Press and hold the front defroster (on the left) AND air source (bottom) buttons

3. Continue pressing the buttons in step 2 and turn the key to ACC for 3 seconds

4. Continue pressing the buttons in step 2 and further turn the key to ON (NOT START) for 3 more seconds.

5. Verify the programming update by observing the REAR defroster LED blink 3 times.

6. Release the two buttons from step 2 and start the car.

When you turn on the A/C with the MODE button set to FACE and turn the thermostat to full COLD (max counter-clockwise setting) the RECIRC should automatically engage. In addition, the amplifier should put out colder air (~ 5-10 degrees F colder and not just from the RECIRC setting) and the compressor will not cycle nearly as often (which some of us found annoying).

Note: This programming change is not persistent. If the battery is fully discharged or disconnected the procedure needs to be repeated to re-enable the settings.

did you know that the RX-8 has an aluminium hood that incorporates "Shock Cone" technology to minimise head injuries in the event of an accident with a pedestrian?

That's neat info. How would one even come about finding info like that? I want to find a website that lists all programming steps for the MAzda lineup. Wouldn't apply to my 20 y/o car but it's still cool to read how random stuff will program the car. Like on the mazda3 if you want to program the car to a remote keyfob you turn it on, the open the door and lock, then unlock, close the door, turn it on again leave it on and a bunch of other crap.

i would also like to find out more info about programming stuff for mazdas

the ac reprogram works pretty good, esp. if you also do the ac line insulation, i droped my a/c temp 10*F with both.

in 100*F+ ambient temps, I can cruise along with 40*F air coming out of the a/c vents

Did you know that your fuel tanks contain two roll-over valves that close and stop your charcoal canister from being contaminated with fuel in the unlikely event of an RX-8 rollover? Like the RX-8 is going to rollover? And if it did, what would you care if fuel got into the charcoal canister?

Did you know that if you disconnect the battery your radio presets will be deleted and your Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) (if equipped) will be disabled?

To reset the DSC, connect the battery, turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (not START), turn the steering wheel fully clockwise, turn the steering wheel fully counter-clockwise.

DSC is re-enabled.

Did you know that disconnecting this connector (with the blue and pink wires) from the ignition switch will kill the key reminder/ door open chime and allow you to enjoy the stereo (chime free!) with the doors open?

Did you know that you're a useless tool ? ? ? (getout)

lol, it's funny how people LOVE 350z's and hate Rx8s. All in All they put out the same performance just the Rx8 looks 50x better and will totally **** it on a road course *which is the only place that matters, straight lines are for people who can't drive*.

almost every mazda car is like this.

that reset isnt for the DSC, its for the electronic steering...when the car looses power...you ahve to "re calibrate" the steering angle sensor (also used by the DSC).

the rx8 was voted "the least likey car to roll over" in its class...and in general...

the vavles stop fuel from exiting the tank...to help gaurd against fires after a roll over.

actually the z lost in a C&D and R&D compairo against the 8, It also lost in customer satisfaction.
