DG Fiberglass Lip: GAPS!?

It has been pointed out to me (in person) by another member on here that he is unhappy with his DG motorsports lip because of the uneven gaps that are left around the fog lights by the upper half of the lip.

Does everyone have these bad gaps?

Anyone have a picture looking down on the upper half of the lip, and how it blends in with the bumper?

Is generally with all of them. Remember the only c/f part is the bottom. The rest is the same mold. Really is a piece of crap. Not only does not fit properly, it will scratch the s*** out of your bumper. Speacially around the front fender and where it goes into the center opening. I have already damaged my bumper so I need to keep the piece of s*** installed. Also as I was installing it the "piece of crap" cracked one more time after been painted. The body man could not believe how thing the fg was. If you would like to take an advice, and you love your P5, treat it right and spend the extra money and get the AutoExe, since its made to higher tolerances and is polyutherane. My 2 cents.

I wanted the lower part to be CF tho so autoexe wasnt an option.......ugh.......i hope mine isnt crap

hey slug, you were part of that recent group buy right? I got mine yesterday and inspected it. Everything looks good. I think it should fit okay. Still trying to get it installed, I created another thread about the cost. Paint shop estimated 500 bucks for paint and installation.....is that reasonable (pirana) since you have yours installed already?

im waiting for a wings west order I sent in like 2 months ago. When i get that im having my rear window spoiler, lip, and grill painted all at once.

I know painting will be expensive but 500 just for the lip sounds a little high to me...

Yeah. I'm going to try to install it myself. I think the quality is good so don't worry. Get some pics up once you have it all put on.

$100 to paint and $25 extra to fix all the cracks from shipping. You can install it yourself, put the center and stretch tha sucka until it cracks, oops I'am sorry, until it fits over the bottom fender section.

the sides seem like they fit fine to me. the only problem i'd have is around the fog lights. the area around that is a little too high for my preference. might need to sand it down or smooth it in better. but yah, be careful on scratching your bumper. i have to repaint my front anyway but still...

i got my DG lip from the group buy and just checked it out a little bit. I only unwrapped the middle and looked it over a little. There is a glitch or whatever in the weave in the very center right under their DGM logo, and it makes it apparent how thin the CF is. The weave is spread out a little where its messed up and you can see right through the lip.

I dunno, as long as it fits ok and doesnt go breaking on me ill be happy

Yeah, the gaps are there. But, its not all that bad. Around the fog lights is the main issue but around the sides it fits nice. I noticed the see through parts too slug, and I was a little bit disappointed as well. Luckily, I was able to put it on just fine. But once I had it on, and noticed the gaps, I said whatever. Screw taking it off and sanding and putting it back on. Putting it on was scary enough, because it feels like you're about to break it before it pops in.

The biggest problem with mine is that it tends to scratch my bumper a bit....so is there a way to tighten the lip enought so that its movement is limited to therefore avoid the scratches. Ijust might get the CF downforcers instead. And sell the lip to a reasonable bidder

soup, I think people have said they tried sanding the inside to make it a little smoother so it won't scratch. The way I see it, it fits so tightly, once you put it on, I swear you will never want to take it off. (It's scary putting it on, must be a million times scarier trying to take that thing off)

Hey slug, so this is what I did. A lot of people said to work with the center piece first, it didn't work for me. I started out fitting in one side and fitting it in snugly. Then you work in the grill area. It should fit in pretty well. The hardest part is getting in that last side. So with one hand on the inside using your fingers, guide it while pushing out and down with your other hand pulling on the outside. Gradually work at it, (and it'll feel like its going to break but it won't if you take your time and ease it in) Once you get it in, it will pop right in and will fit very tight along the sides. I hope this helps!

If you want the lip not to scractch your bumper put 2 crews on the bottom of the lip, it will secure it even thighter. The Autoexe also required 2 screws at the bottom.
