DFW Favorite Roads

I'd like to start a list of everyone's favorite drive sports in DFW and surrounding areas.

If you know of any good highways or backstreets, not overly populated with police, where any of us can go for a good drive to escape the stresses of everyday life please put them here.

As I don't often leave the downtown area my current list is very short.

1) The road surrounding White Rock Lake. If you go early in the morning or after 9 PM there is no traffic and all the turns make for a great 3rd gear run. Only problem is it's short, about 15 min all the way around.
location: 75 north - Mockingbird east

2) Any road around Lake Texahoma. Great twists and turns, but 2 lane roads means your often stuck behind a truck or camper.
location: 75 north (about 45 minutes north of 635) - follow signs

Let's not forget the road leading to Joe Pool Lake. It goes from Grand Prarie over to Cedar Hill, and is pretty nice.

Also, highway 917 that goes from Mansfield to I-35 is nice also. By the way we have an OLD thread concerning this, but a new one is needed. I will have to find that thread too.

Y'all REALLY should come down to austin, and drive Lime Creek Park. I honestly think it would be worth the 3 hour drive.

I did that back in January. I had a friend in a Miata flip trying to catch me. :( It was Diane's (Mazdaspeedgirl's) husband Greg (Mr. Repu). They came out roses though, with a new, and better Miata after that one was totalled by the insurance company, and the best part is that Greg only had dirt on his T-shirt from the rollover, and he had no roll bar. God is good!(bowdown)

Yeah but alot of those cars r pretty fast! when it comes to running with modded z06's and vipers and single soop dawgs it gets a little crazy! I like North green oaks from eastchase to 360 (thats our run) 917 is badass! 916 between highway 4 and 174 is cool watch out for rio vista. umm geez
around lake arlington, north bardin (used to race there) the 820 all the way around run, 287 (top your car out), highland park, north downtown, 75, and whiterock

I do not know if you guys know about HWY 157 in mansfield and Venus area. If it is a clear weekend you will see motorcycles all along that road. Lots of curves and a nice road. Love driving the MP3 on it. Sometimes you will even see exotics on it!!! Just thought I would throw that in!

You better watch the cops on 157 and Venus has aggressive cops as well.

coming from somebody who grew up in that area and stills lives in the area.

We'll have to get together and do that drive. I also like the HYW 917 drive from HYW 157 to I-35. Been doing that one since I was a kid.

Are you for real? Yashooa and I grew up in Joshua. I love that road too, but I know how bad the cops can be on it at times. If they think people are racing they setup stings and stuff, but other that that the'll stick to 174 most of the time.

I have so many road around that area from riding sportbikes out ther for so long. Let me know I'll show you absolute twisty heaven!!!!!

And when we all have a day or two to spend. I'll show you 3 hours of the best twisty, hilly most bueatiful back roads with no traffic between here and Llanno, Tx. We even have a free private camp grounds to stay at on my best friends ranch in Vally Springs, Tx.!!!!

I use to run it with my sportbikes, but the funnest time I ever had running it was with an old RX-7!!!!

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII, I want to just take off right now and drive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drool, this might be an excellent meet when it gets a bit warmer.

Awesome! I may want to go buy a tent now. Haven't camped out in YEARS!! This would be a good local meet.

this is a cut & paste from an old post I made in 04:

My friend has a ranch in LLano,TX. it's right by Austin in the heart of the hill country. I know all the back roads around there and all the big lakes etc. We could schedule a badass EXTREMELY scenic ride and for dam sure a ride that could test every ounce of driving skills you have.

I ride sport bikes and last summer me and some friends rode from Fort Worth to there and camped out at my friends campground's on their land. To give you an idea we were riding Gixxers and Busa's.

As a matter of fact, I know the back roads all the way from Fort Worth to there and dam its an awsome ride (excuse me, I mean drive). No traffic, lots of scenery, hills, beautiful deep long curves, little historic towns dotted along the way. I could even ask if we could use the camp grounds. I could design different rides to like one to Enchanted Rock, one to Fredericksburg, one to the caverns, one to Faulkenstein Castle (this is a real castle) among many more.

below are some links for your review to educate you on ther various things to do in the hill country.
