Watch for cops on 67 from Venus all the way down to Keene! I know you guys may be going, dam he sure says watch out alot, but I grew up in the area you guys are talking about and I know what the city mindsets are. Keene and Venus are pretty quick to get you and throw cuffs on if they have the chance!!! Keene lost quite few out of court settlements for rough behavior!!!

On a side note, this weekend I plan to go to Waco to visit my Grandmother. Those back roads of 917 are calling. Anyone want to hit 917 with me? At I-35, I will continue on to Waco.

Damn, any remnants of the KKK down that way?

No KKK, but they are very small, strict, religious type of towns. I have seen them throw entire groups in jail for something most larger cities would not even look at or at most tell you to stop or leave etc...

They consider giving someone a break, writing you as many tickets as possible and not arresting you on top of that and if you as much as look like your going to contest the ticketing, they take the whole crew in and say blame your friend!!!

Yea, I would love to pm me with details. Come to think of it, when we were at Sonic the time before last, this guy stated there was a new racetrack like MotorSport Ranch, but a lot cheaper off of 917 in between Egan and Mansfield area.

Question? how are you going to Waco via 917 it doesn't go to Waco (shrug)

Ever go north on I-35, and notice the Joshua/Mansfield exit just south of Alverdo? That is where 917 comes out on I-35. I will probably be leaving Saturday morning (2/12/2005). PM Anyone who is interested in "cruise" PM me your number, or respond in this thread, and we all can coordinate a time that works for everyone.

Yea, I knew that! I was just being an ass (butt) and that's Alvarado (glare) ...

We need to look (when we get a chance) at the back roads between Cleburne and Waco and see what they are like. I use to drive back roads all the way to Hillsboro, but never to Waco...

this is a cut & paste from an old post I made in 04:

My friend has a ranch in LLano,TX. it's right by Austin in the heart of the hill country. I know all the back roads around there and all the big lakes etc. We could schedule a badass EXTREMELY scenic ride and for dam sure a ride that could test every ounce of driving skills you have.

I ride sport bikes and last summer me and some friends rode from Fort Worth to there and camped out at my friends campground's on their land. To give you an idea we were riding Gixxers and Busa's.

As a matter of fact, I know the back roads all the way from Fort Worth to there and dam its an awsome ride (excuse me, I mean drive). No traffic, lots of scenery, hills, beautiful deep long curves, little historic towns dotted along the way. I could even ask if we could use the camp grounds. I could design different rides to like one to Enchanted Rock, one to Fredericksburg, one to the caverns, one to Faulkenstein Castle (this is a real castle) among many more.

below are some links for your review to educate you on ther various things to do in the hill country.

Ok everyone, I would like some feedback on these links. I want to start creating roadtrips to each of these location. Nothing fancy, just get in car with gas and go. It will be a spirited driving kind of trip with stops at all the little places we find cool.

it would go like this:
each car have a map and cellphone, person to be navigator (driver doesn't need to be reading or talking on cellphone while driving)

this allows for people to drive at their own pace and not get lost.

I would like to make the first run to Llanno and we would stay at my friends ranch in valley springs. Next morning we would go to the castle for a photoshoot, then to the caverns since the castle is almost next to the entrance. do tour of caverns for those that want to, while others could just hang out at the park they have right there with some old buildings. then cruise around the various lakes around there and then back to the ranch to camp. Sunday get up drive back stopping agian at any places we all want to check out maybe even take a different route back.

what do you guys think...

When would the llano trip be? I plan on putting my car in the shop next week to start getting the body work fixed.

maybe in March I'll get you the dates... I was going to Padre and realized that it was spring break there and how much it would cost tostay there that week, but I have the days off so I'll use them for this...

This would be an awesome trip. I would defineatley be up for doing this in march.

I'm off march 16th - 21st, so that weekend would be a good time to do it, but I think eberyone is alreayd committed to the dyno day on the 19th so we may have to pick another weekend. What's cool is that this doesn't cost hardly anything to do and anyone can come like people with kids etc. becuase we would all be driving at our own pace we would have stop points where we would all meet at along the way and this would allow for others to drive more spirited than others and the slow guys could take their time putting along and not feel rushed... and then we all meet up and hang out...

another good thing is we can do this any weekend...
