2003 Spicy Orange MSP
Just installed some new plugs~
Denso Ik22s can be ordered from sparkplugs.com
They are about 12 bucks a piece. Iridium, and one heat range colder than stock. Smoother idle and response. Get these plugs... they are great

i'll see how u feel in about 3 months :)

new plugs always feel great for the first couple of months

I had NGK Iridiums since last Feb. They are still great! I brush 'em off (carefully) every now and then when I do an inspection ;)

The FS-20 requires extended reach plugs to work properly...
Is there any benefit of going 1 step colder on a stock MSP? Or just stick with stock plugs?

well hell, i went one step cooler and went with the NGK 7's i didnt really feel a noticable difference but the main reason i DID switch is b/c i will be upping the boost in the near future...IF this is something that you will be doin DEFINATELY switch to one step colder, thats a must....IMO...

I dont think that one step colder is good on a stock setup. I check my plugs on a regular basis and they are borderline TOO cold. Don't forget that we already have plugs 1 step colder (In NA engines, they are "5"). My experience suggests that stock heat range is quite safe up around 8 psi. Over that I would go with "7" (NGK) to be on the safe side.
My 2 :)

Overbosting to 10 PSI, 1 range colder...
14+ on stock compression of 9:1, 2 Ranges colder.

Stock pressure. Normal NGK will work great!

Dammit...there are way too many spark plug threads and too many options. I can't even begin to think of what plugs I want, and I need to change them soon. I want iridium tip copper core extended reach plugs. I am at stock boost but am getting th GHL exhaust and have an Injen....should I just run stock heat range plugs or one step colder? I wont up boost until I get my side-mount (months away).

If you go with the iridium, I would say go one step colder because of how "hot" those plugs burn. I feel anything other than copper on turbo cars, stock boost or not, is useless because copper is the "coolest" burning. plat, double plat, and iridium will all be hotter, even though they are in the same heat "range"

Like I mentioned above, my extended reach iridiums are stock heat range (6) and they are almost too cold. I would not put in a 7 with stock boost!
BTW I've checked my plugs several times...
EDIT: I suggest checking visually (a magnifying glass helps) the plugs and decide the correct heat range from that :)

here's my experience, from the time i was on stock boost i went directly to ngk copper 7's which are not extended reach, didnt like the ride so i bought ngk irridiums in stock heat range, was satisfied for a while, then i upped the boost(10 psi) and put back the non extended reach ngk 7's copper and it felt weak as hell, so i put the stock platinums back in while my ZFR7F's came in these are copper extended reach 1 step colder, so while i installed these i decided to check the stock plugs i took out and i was concerned by the white spots on the tips this is telling me these bitches were getting hot as hell which is not good boys and girls, so if you are going to stay stock go with irridiums, but if you up the boost go with extended reach coppers.
