Here's one for ya'.

9K miles ago I had Valvoline replace manual tranny fluid 75W90, 2.7 Qts. Seemed to shift a bit better.

5 days ago car was into Dealer for links, bushings, & seat belt bucle.
This weekend shifter started operating real tight, more difficult going into gears, notchy, all more than usual.

While changing oil today, I asked Valvoline to spray linkage per tight shifting.
Didn't help so they checked fluid. It was down 1.4 Qts! No sign of any leakage.

They topped it off, & all is back to normal issues.

No way I can legally prove Dealer did anything, but............

I wonder how much trans damage has happened in the past week?

So why were you at a Tranny dealer? That is just wrong.

On a serious note, probably not much damage. Your bearings may have gotten a little hotter than normal, but you still had enough oil in there for the gear sets.

bit, I Hope your right.
zz, per Forum rules, I don't think I can name a business in a negative comment,
but it's the dealer probably closest to your location.

You can name any dealer you want, especially if they screwed up you car, do you want it to happen to someone else?

In retrospect, now that I'm a bit more calm, it could very well have been Valvoline not filling it fully 9K miles ago, although that though may be a bit of a reach.
My guess is 9K miles half full would have trashed the tranny.
