Dealer today, new info??

after a guy in cali blew his motor, there was a letter created by mazda NA reguarding boost controllers.
it said specifically for dealers to llok at the wastegate line.

unwritten, u probably did worranty work that didnt envolve a blown motor or turbo :)
i'm pretty sure that for small things they dont even look at the line.

well i took it in for pinging, and they didn't say anything about the wg line..

its pretty lame that mazda is trying to deny warranties from a wg line, especially when that line is a piece of crap and causes leaks. people have been changing them out for awhile, so I dont see how they can prove everyone's putting in boost controllers....but yeah, the dealer always has the upper hand in that stuff...

If mazda denies me any warranty work because i took the effort to save them time and money to replace a 99c part, then they can suck my cack. :)

Thats the rason why Mazda shouldnt void your warrenty if you install a boost gauge. If I read 35 psi of boost I know my wastegate line has gone to s***. Of course I would feel it and love it. They should void anythign that monitors your car. I know some dealers see gauges as a performance thing. But yeah dont replace any lines yourself becasue they will know. They gave my buddy crap for replaceing the wastegate line.

I'll tell them it cracked and the car ran like crap, so i looked into and figured out what the problem was, and that i fixed it myself, without having the car towed, blah blah blah.

Bingo!
I got it easy though...I already had a new motor put in so they had everything apart.Whos to say they didn't change that line them selves. They already put a bolt into my S-pipe instead of a stud?I think I will have them order the correct stud and replace it when i take it in for service soon.

yeah, mine's cut too........but that's cause it was a temporary location for the boost gauge ;)

Hey, here's an idea. The location where most of us tap in for a boost gauge is just standard rubber hose. I kept mine in case I need it. Maybe best way is to take off your boost controler and move your boost gauge to where the controller tapped in. Then replace the hose where the gauge was with stock or just standard hose.

That way, the will see your gauge there and probably not suspect that you ever had a controller.

Of cours I don't have to worry because my Technician does mods himself and would be more curious about my setup than anything.

Wagner Motorsports open house...York PA

Jersey people are probably gonna caravan. I know at least me and CustomMSp are going, probably others.

Really its seesm pretty simple...if you want to keep your warranty but want a EBC or boost gauge which requires cutting the vaccum hose and inserting a "t" fitting...remove the factory hose, put in bag and label it, put in glove box, buy new line, install whatever....when you need dealer work put the stock sutff back and roll the gauge hose up and hide it.

I replaced my wastegate hose because it cracked. If a dealer denied warranty work because I replaced a faulty part they'd have a very big problem on their hands.
