When you guys brought your MS3 in for a ECU reflash did you have to remove your mods or was the dealer ok with it since it was just a reflash ... i want to do the reflash soon and was looking to install more mods .. but if the dealer will only do the reflash on a stock car i can wait and swap my current mods. And i assume shift bushing shouldn't be a problem since they won't be able to see it.

You and I have a very similar mod list, and I got the reflash done as-is without an issue. However, I think (know) that every dealership is different.

reflash for what? are you having an issue?

a TSB reflash should not be done on your car unless you actually have a problem. a tsb effects some cars unlike a recall that targets all cars. if your car seems fine dont bring it in.

There is a TSB.

tru-boost is 100% correct. the same confusion is happening in the honda world right now regarding the release of a TSB for their infamous 3rd gear issues on the 6-speed transmissions.

here is some info from a previous thread-

you guys are in the dark about what a manufacturer TSB actually means. it's a supplement to the service manual regarding troubleshooting and solving an ISSUE that has presented itself during the time after the troubleshooting manual was printed. if you do not have an ISSUE, there is no need to follow the steps in the TSB. yes, the VIN could fall into a range, but that merely means that if it does have the issue, then they know why and how to fix it because cars within those ranges have been purported to have said issue.

this isn't a recall!

if there is an model-wide reflash update available for your particular vehicle, it will show up as per your vin and the dealership will perform it. TSB specific reflashes that were brought to be to help alleviate an issue are not model-wide, but symptom specific and should not show up for your vehicle as a model-wide update.

to those who are getting "the flash", it's been shown that sometimes a flash that is modified and made available for a particular issue can sometimes CAUSE a problem when there wasn't a problem to begin with...so, be forewarned.

bottom line re: TSB's- if it ain't broke...........

now, you have stated you have the reflash w/o issue, so maybe the reflash prescribed in the TSB for this issue works regardless, however, that is not always the case and who knows down the line what the flash might be doing to something. as a general rule, what tru-boost said is correct.

^ what is the Honda Issue?

When I basically called my dealer to ask about the TSB, he told me exactly what TRU and BuiltHatch have said.

I was kind of taken back when the dealer told me "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but after hearing some problems people are still having even after the reflash, kind of makes me think twice.

I know I get the symptoms in the cold but I have not had the MS3 long enough to experience 100+ weather.

my si has it bad. most of the prescribed parts for my car re: the fix are in, sans one bolt set. once that is in, the car goes in and i cross my fingers.

Thank you Builthatch!!!! I bought an '07 Si coupe for my wife and with 12,000 miles on the car her third gear is crap!! We've mentioned this to the dealer at every service stop but they've said there's no known issue and they couldn't reproduce it! We've been hoping that a TSB or recall would come out... I don't frequent any Honda forums so I am very glad you posted this. Thanks a ton man...
