Dealer/Mazda problems -

2006 Mazda6 S Grand Touring
This is really starting to become a serious issue.

About a month ago I made an appt at one dealership in the area. It took them 2.5 hours to just do an oil change and they asked I reschedule. To make a long story short, I paid for the oil change, emailed the SM explaining how incompetent their service dept is and never looked back.

TODAY I had an appt at another dealer - much better experience BUT.

Here are my complaints.
BTW I have a 2006 6s V6 Grand Sport with 34K miles on it. The car is MINT inside and out and has NEVER been abused.
-when 1/4 tank of gas, car dies like it has no gas
-When it was cold this past week, the brake pedal locked up. This is not safe while traveling 30mph and the pedal becomes a rock and I'm left with NO BRAKES.
-Slight knock from the engine in cold temperatures
-Transmission has shifted very strangely twice. When instead of down shifting, it would up shift causing the car to have basically no power. This happened on the on ramp, also not safe.
-Getting 15-17 MPG. That's ridiculous, my GS400 got 19-20 in the worst winter conditions

They had the car all day today and couldn't duplicate any of the complaints. I got charged $122 diagnostic fee for them looking at it. They wouldn't give the car back otherwise. This is absolutely ridiculous! I am driving a car that is extremely unsafe and is still under warranty. Why should I have to pay if they can't find these problems? I am now coming back on Monday with 1/4 tank gas for them to see how it dies.

What can I do? Has anyone had a similar situation? Is there anyone at Mazda I can contact about this? I don't even want to drive this POS anymore, I never know when it'll get me anywhere. My previous Acura with 235K miles on it was more reliable.

Someone please give some insight. I need to get these issues taken care of and so far after 2 visits and $150, all I got was a lousy car wash.(bang)

Sorry for the rant but this is getting out of control. I need to do something about this.

If you are under warranty, you shouldn't pay for diagnostic work. I know how it can be when they "can't duplicate the issue", but be persistent. I would take the technician out with you and show them exactly how it acts. I had to do that numerous times before they figured mine out, but I never paid for diagnostic work, ever. Mine wouldn't act up every time it was there, and had to tell them that they need to drive it for more than just a quick road test. It sucks, but I left my car there for a full week once, and they were able to feel my issue twice out of the 6 days it was there. The first time I brought it in, I was told I was crazy by the tech (not my service rep), and because there was no CEL for anything, not much they can do. But after they had it for an extended period of time ( and me calling every day to check on it ), they felt it too. Keep on them and let us know how it goes, but make sure you get it done quick, sounds like your warranty is up pretty soon, and then it's on you. What helped me, is that I have a great relationship with my rep at the dealer I go to. No BS from me, and I get no BS from him. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply

Problem is that the tranny thing happened only twice. And we went on the drive but it didn't happen. The Gas thing I will be back monday for. I just don't understand why I had to pay $122. I may stop in and talk to the GM on Monday.

My warranty is good until 50K or July of 2010, I will keep on them!(breakn)

Oh! My bad, forgot you had an '06! Last year of the 50k warranty. One major reason I bought an '06 Speed6 instead of the '07. That and Whitewater Pearl was discontinued for '07! I would definitely keep on them, that's what it will take. You're gas mileage does suck. Sorry to agree with you there, but I don't even get lower than 19 when driving aggressive. I know 2 different engines, but that aint right! Something doesn't add up there. The tranny thing is bizarre. No reason it should do that, but until it happens frequently, might be SOL. For engine knock, you could try higher grade gas, or adding some injector cleaner and octane boost through a tank and see if that helps. I know our engines run much different, but mine LOVES the cold.

Haha Killer, you don't even give me a chance to update?

Yes it is up for sale...but the reason is mainly because I just don't need the car. The car is fine, since the fuel pump was put in, I have not had any problems, I just don't need it. I need to purchase a house so the car with the loan has gotta go..

^It's all good and thanks.

The fuel pump fixed everything but the brakes issue which never happened again.

I sold the car - it is no longer in my possession.(cabpatch) Off to house shopping.
