Our brakes are the ones off the volvo s60 and our chassis is a modified version of the Volvo s40 (c1 platform). My window sticker says 95% of the parts are from Japan

You have it correct. However, the front calipers also say FOMOCO, which is not a bad thing in my opinion!

Thinking of Volvos, apparently I have been asleep at the wheel the last few years. I know some models have been under-rated performance-wise because of their image as ultra safe mommymobiles, but when did they start looking mean? I saw a coupe today and actually slowed down so I could double check the back of the car for the logo. I was like, "holy crap, that's a Volvo!?!?!"

The s60 part is nothing to be ashamed of it's had some good write ups an one of them pretty much took my dodge to school and back again. Use caution if you are not driving your speed.
