Dealer installed Bluetooth on a CX-5 sport

Why do those of us that want the manual transmission get screwed on the tech? So the lack of Bluetooth was almost a deal breaker, but the dealer t assured me they could add a dealer installed Bluetooth that would work with the stock stereo. I left the dealer to get coffee, and in doing so they 'threw it in' at no cost to try to reel me in. After searching on the net and looking through the accessory catalog I thought it would be similar to the add on Bluetooth for the mazda2, which is a volume knob and 2 buttons that are factory pieces next to the true pressure reset (which is how they described the setup). I was completely shocked when I picked up my CX-5 today with a Parrot box taped to the dash. Am I overreacting, or is this kind of ridiculous? Talk about ruining the clean lines!

Wellll, it was free.

Since you have the sport without backup camera, just put in your own double-din radio with bluetooth. It doesn't have to cost more than $200 if all you want is bluetooth, and it's super easy to DIY. No permanent modifications required. And, you'll end up with a stereo that performs better than the Grand Touring trim!

Yeah I had a 2011 mazda3 with the Bose, and it wasn't that great either. Aftermarket is the way to go, apparently. At least the Parrot works pretty good for calls, but it doesn't even stream music.

The Parrot works well with iphone,
I have it in a older Civic works great.

That looks ridiculous. Tell them to rip it out and yeah go get a Pioneer or Kenwood with Garmin GPS built in.

This is the direction I'm leaning. The dealer has to repair damage to a rim that I noticed at delivery, so I'll probably just have them remove it at that point. You can't even see the screen on the Parrot from the normal driving position- the steering wheel is in the way!

I was able to get bluetooth using one of these:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/USB-Bluetoot...-4-/261364051785?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160

just plugs in inside the center console to the usb port than 6" 3.5mm stereo connect from this unit to the aux input. DONE!

only negative, does not allow for phone call transfers. I am able to stream tunein audio seamlessly.

works perfectly with my nexus 5. auto syncs when I get into the car.. better audio quality then when I was using the headset to aux input connection.

good luck

Good point, not sure what the OP wanted Bluetooth for, for just audio streaming or making phone calls.
For just audio streaming this is a good alternative. There's some others too, I have 2 of them for other uses.

If OP wants Bluetooth for phone calls, either rip dash out and put in new head unit, or get a Blue Ant BT module: http://www.myblueant.com/products/speakerphones/commute/

Ideally I wanted to be able to make calls AND stream music, but this Parrot only makes calls. The streaming music isn't as big of a deal though, as the USB is very handy in the CX-5 and I always have to charge my elderly iPhone anyway...

The Blue Ant module didn't work so well in our old Jetta, so I didn't even consider that as an alternative. There is one here collecting dust somewhere.
