Dead Turkey?

I was reading one of the other threads and someone described the sound from the turbo as a "dead turkey"
That is the sound that I sometimes get!
Is it Bad????????

No, it's not bad. That is the sound of your recirculation valve opening to release boost pressure. That keeps your turbo from making too much pressure and being damaged. You'll hear it most when you rev high then hold in the clutch and let off the gas. You'll hear the sound because you just built up a bunch of pressure and let off the gas.

I'm a Turbo newb so this is a retarded question i know :) Im sure I could go out to my car and try it but ill ask anyhow. Can you get the dead turkey sound when just revving, and not actually moving, like just revving in neutral, or revving in first with the clutch in? Just wondering if i can make the dead turkey call at a light next time some civic wants to race :P the dead turkey might scare em off lol and they will leave me alone.

yes...rev it to like 5 grand and abruptly let off the gas, it will make the turkey. the sound is HEAVILY amplified if you have the injen.

must kill the turkey.

Oh no, you're not going to try and make that stock turkey call at stoplights are you? I'm an idiot and just answered my own question .... leave me alone .... I'm stoned.

yeah i know steph, that has to be the worst description ever...dead things dont make noises.....and NO ONE KNOWS what a "dying squirrel" sounds like...so whoever came up with that analogy, kudos, i guess.

Well, it WAS nearly the national bird of the USA....

(dunno)

HA!!!!!!!
Man, that is funny.

"If a turkey dies in the Mazdaspeed, and no one is around, does it make a sound?"

Had to get a little philosophical on ya.....

And you know steph drew that herself.

Even though it looks like a 4 year old did it. :)

All these posts about the MSP bpv sounding like a turkey on this forum are funny. Obivously quite a few people here have not heard many turbo cars, or they are used to a generic aftermarket bov like the type-s, in such influential movies as The Fast and the Furious. Watch WRC and then say what you want about turkeys.

What's the big problem with turkeys anyway?

I love turkeys.

They're delicious.

(yes)
