Dashboard/Car wash frequency

I wash on Sunday mornings or as needed.
If I think the wheels are dirty, I wipe off the dust with a fleece.
I just cleaned the interior for the first time since getting the car in January. Dusted it and buffed the windows with a t-shirt.

the quick detailer for the interior does work on the steering wheel and it does provide the uv protection for everything. however since the wheel is handled everyday and it is pulled so tight i would get a good quality leather care product such as meguiars leather cleaner/conditioner (meguaiars should freaking sponsor me, i buy so much stuff from them and tell people all about their products, lol)

Might also want to pick up meguiars exterior quick detailer (comes in aerosol can or spray bottle) i use this everyweekend if i cant wash the car that week. IMPORTANT do not rely on that only, it is ok to use every now and then if you cant wash or if it is raining but u must absolutely wash the car it can be done indoors. it is also great for getting bird s*** off your car. but like i said this cant replace washing the car it is still important to wash your car at least every three weeks if not more, i usually wash once a week and wax every other week.

I would also reccomend the clay cleaning bar, i did this right after getting my car and it made a huge difference. it takes all the contaminants off the paint and restores the shine like you would not believe. i thought the paint looked great but when i was done with the clay bar it looked ten times better. this does take some time (at least an hour) but it is good for the paint and provides a perfect base for you to apply nice clean wax to. this is something you can do every other month. once again meguiars has a kit that includes two clay bars, a small bottle of the quick detailer (it is used to lubricate the area where you are using the clay bar), a microfiber towel, and a small bottle of meguiars cleaner wax. you wash car, and dry. knead clay bar until soft, hold in your palm and spray small area with quick detailer, rub clay bar in side to side motion or circular motion in this area only, knead the bar anytime it gets dirty (and it will) do this for the whole car, use microfiber towel to wipe off each area to remove any residue. when done apply an even coat of the cleaner wax and let dry to a dull haze, buff off. next apply at least one coat of meguiars nxt generation tech wax or meguiars gold class wax. allow to dry to a dull haze and buff off. ( i have an orbital buffer and find that the foam pads work best for application and a microfiber towel works best for buffing/polishing) step back and admire your now beautiful finish.

Edit:use microfiber towel to wipe off each area to remove any residue from the clay bar and/or the quick detailer (when doing clay bar cleaning)

man that post makes me appear obsessive compulsive about my cars exterior, lol

great tip, as your white undershirts fall apart/ look bad, cut them up and use as rags (work great for wheels)

.
If you're extremely concerned about UV degradation, you get should your windows tinted.

^+1 to that, not sure if factory windows for you come with a light tint or not but get tinting for the max level allowed by law for your area, many people make the mistake of getting light tint up front and dark in back only, the front is where the darker is better because that has the most paneling that can be damaged by uv rays. therefore if you state says 35% tint is the max allowed up front but the back can be more, for aesthetic purposes just get 35% all around but like i said go to the max limit you can for tint so you dont get hassled by cops but your interior will be protected.

Here in sunny Florida tint is a must. It really cuts down on the amount of sunburn you get behind the wheel, and makes the a/c work less in our extremely hot summers. Actually the air never stops working it's ass off, but the tint makes it a bit more comfortable inside.

yes, the mini california duster works great on the dash, I actually use it on all the plastics in the car. Footprints on the dash? That will never happen in my car. I would spray it down with hondapolish plastic cleaner I use on the bikes if something gets on there the duster wont get. It doesnt leave any type of shiny residue. just clean and smooth.

Dunno if it was said but for windows straight white viniger on a MF towel makes it perfect. I lightly spray them MF towel just so its very lightly damp then it cleans windows perfectly. If you get it too wet it will leave behind some residue but you just hit it with a dry MF towel and done.

For dash I just use Meguiars detailer interior or even the same MF towel I just finished the exterior paint with that has the Ultimate quick detailer. Both work just fine but that greasy s*** look is nasty so I wont ever use Armorall on my car.

PS dihydrogen oxide is H2O you dummies, that guy was jerking with you.

Yeah, it's tasteless, odorless, and colorless ;)

Thanks for the tips guys. Just to let you know, I do have my windows tinted to the maximum allowable in each spot for my state (Florida) I think it's 30 in the front, and 15 in the back, with a seven year warrant on it I believe (have to look to verify).

I'm really going to see about getting the products you mentioned for the car this weekend, hopefully I can find at a parts/car store.

Just wanted to let you guys know I got some of the Meguiars and the MF towels and it worked really well, definetley better than the Armor All super-sheen gloss and excess liquid from the wipes ;) I posted some pictures in another thread: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3912847#post3912847

I didn't get to vacuum or clean the interior of the windows tonight sadly thanks to leaving my supplies for that at the mother-in-law's place, so I'll get that done tommorrow, but as-is, it looks great!

For the tires I used the Black Magic foam, and that seems to do a great job, and for the wheels themselves I just used my typical Zip Wax soap and a small brush to get in all the nooks and crannies.

I laugh when I see those greasy dashes because the first time they crack the windows it looks like a freaking dust bunny.

PS on the tire spray be sure to go back with a cotton shirt corner and clean the excess. I spray a bit more tire dressing on the shirt and wipe it back off. If you dont when the tires spin up it flings that s*** all over your car.

I use Meguiars Hyper Dressing 1 part HD and 3 parts water for my tires. Wash the car like normal, before you dry, spray the HD solution on the tires and then dry. By the time you're done the tires will be dry and no more sling, plus it's water based and it's good on interior plastic and engine bays if you want!

my silver ms3 gets washed once a week, and i use Meguiars Quick Interior detailer as well! works great.. i usually clay and wax my cars every other month too.
