Dang! My two cents / feelings CX-7...

What!!!!!!

Value?????? Boy did you not do you homework on this one. $67,000 with the resale value's being so low on all Hybrid's due to the repair cost down the road. Your Lexus will lose more value in 3-4 years than my CX-7 cost.
Good Luck with that...........

Whew....the Jag looks sweet but reliability is horrible and they are expensive to fix. We do all have different opinions on various vehicles as noted in this thread....it's whatever fits your needs and budget and what it's worth to you. The thing that bothered me about the post was it just seemed to be so negative...why didn't they do this, why didn't they do that etc. Why not it say it differently like....wouldn't it be cool if it had this or that etc. I don't know....enough said on this. Enjoy your new vehicle....let us know how the hybrid works out for you!

thanks...

One must say, that the CX-7 has definitely carved out a niche for itself, and can only be compared to comparable models costing more, not less.

My negativity resides with the fact that MAZDA spent on a bunch of R&D designing and engineering there brand new spanking CX-7... SO why in the name of logic didn't they polish off a few of the things that could of given it perfection IMHO.

I was never attempting to compare the RX400 vs the CX-7. That's liking to comparing the Toyota Matrix to the CX-7. Completely different market niche.

Once again, my disatisfaction lies primarily on logic, not r&d, nor the money side. If you have ever designed and engineered before you can better understand my reasoning. Case in point the electric seats. What is more expensive, designing the mechanism and electrics for the seat for one seat? Or designing and engineering the mechanism and electrics for both the drivers and passenger seats? See what I mean? AND, if the "hardware and nuts and bolts" are designed - tested - r&d'ed - built, then how hard would of it been to add memmory settings? Probably not a whole lot.

Same thing for the NAVI w/ Bluetooth capability. Bluetooth is a standard, and you would only be responsible for the rights and not for the actual protocols that have been put in place. True, you would need to integrate that into the head unit and add an external mic. But, excuse me if I'm wrong but doesn't the steering wheel have a button that looks alot like a "talk" button that works with the NAVI? See what I mean?

Ditto for the rear door panels.

I feel Mazda could of dotted the "I's" and crossed the "T's" and there was more than enough in the pricing of the car to make it a complete package IMHO and pretty much leave the buyer deciding simply on whether he/she actually likes the look of the car and the way it drives.

Sorry, but for me I was left feeling a little empty after looking at what I had to accept given the price for a fully loaded CX-7.

That's not to say if Mazda were to ask for an additional 1K or 1.5K I wouldn't have paid that amount to justify my needs, simply because the CX-7 is still a pretty heady vehicle and a far cry from most SUV's on the market today...

Infiniti FX35, Nissan Murano, Toyota RAV4, Honda Element... to name a few, what in god's name were "they" thinking when they designed those SUV's.

Any hoot, I've enjoyed my time here and wish everyone the best of luck, who knows, perhaps our paths will cross some day on the open rode...

Happy motoring...

But as for the seats.. they didn't have to design or engineer anything. I'm 100% sure they're using the same mechanism they use in other cars. The electronics cost more, plain and simple. I still don't see what the big deal is.. pull a lever or turn a knob vs pushing a button.

Gosh I'm really sorry that you would rather Mazda spend R&D time making the passenger seat more appropriate for a fat lazy american (aren't you canadian? lol) than on the very efficient DISI turbo 2.3.

A car should be about driving. enough said.

Like I said, he shoulduv waited for the Jag

Congratulations on your purchase because in the end all that matters is if you like it. :) The only thing that somewhat bothers me is how you peg the mazda emblem alongside with a hyundai(I have nothing against hyundai BTW). How is it inferior to a lexus emblem(two lines making an L inside an oval), or a honda and toyaota(which are nothing more that an H and an A inside of a square)?

Congratulations on your new purchase !!!
Thanks for visiting, and oh , heres a link just for you to go to. You will get more info on your new Toyota here:

Say hi to everyone for me... Enjoy

They took down my jag pics. I guess they don't like leaches.

Bells & whistles & gadgets, oh my!

I hope our Canadian friend doesn't end up with buyer's remorse... I just saw a commercial for a Chrysler that has HEATED & COOLED DRINK HOLDERS !!!!

What will they think of next?

...and I still can't get my mind around all this "oversized badge" stuff ??? I'll bet he doesn't wear Nike shoes because the "Swoosh" stripe is too big. One look at the top of the Lexus forum home page, and I get the impression they are taking a page out of the new Mazda design book... that is one big badge!

This guy must have gone to the same school of economics as my wife; first thing she says after a day of productive shopping " You just won't believe how much I saved !!!" Of course no mention of what she spent in order to obtain her "savings" Congrats pal, you found something no one else would buy and got a heck of a deal on it !!!

what the ???

I read some of this rediculous post, all i have to say is this:

I went to the dealer to buy an RDX. (Thank god i didnt) They wouldnt budge 1 penny off the MSRP.

Then, i discovered the CX-7. I was dumbfounded as to why the Acura at the time was almost 35k and my GT i could buy at invoice of 28,5 w/bose & roof. It didnt make sense to me then, and it doesnt now. MAzda NAILED this market niche. Honda, Toyota, Acura, all missed the boat big time on this emerging type of vehicle.

the CRV is whimp truck with excellent reliability that does everything well. End of story. Same as RAV but now they got the V6 -which i like\

Acura pushed out the RDX with failed MPG ratings, over the top sticker, and blander than all hell styling. not worth my 34k. BMW X3, forget it at that price

The CX-7, in my opinion, blew open this part of the market with a quality vehicle, with power, the right amenities for buyers in this niche (who cares about seat memory, if you buy the car you will probably be the onnly one driving 90% of the time!). For the price you cannot beat the MAzda, the GT is a STEAL! Nothing comes close to the CX-7 besides the Murano (which is a good car) but still a little more expensive

Owning Honda since i was 16 - driving the CX7 from Mile 1 made me realize that their suspension & breaking and driving mechanics just blew the tires off my 2004 2dr Accord V6. The 7 is an exceptional value anyway you slice it - yes they could have at least put handles on the back doors, but if you value handles on doors more than you do driving - then you are looking at the wrong car!

I still need a visual of this rear door handle situation. I drove a CX-7 and sat in the passenger seat, but never in the back.
