2003 MSP, Spicy Orange
I had finally decided to get the MSP last week. I went to the dealer on Wed. to confirm prices and such. The dealer only had one MSP so I needed to get it quick! So, on Thurs. the sales person gives me a call at work and tells me there's somebody else looking at the car right now with a salesman, do you want to reserve it? Being a little scared I decided yes and put 500 CND down to "reserve" it. The next day I go in to talk to somebody at the dealership about warranty, and he tells me the car was sold yesterday! Of course I got really mad and went to see my sales person and he tels me "don't worry we got another one at another dealership" So, I decide to let it go as long as I get the car within a reasonable time.

It's Monday now, and I called the finance guy in the morning to make sure it goes through with the bank, and of course it does. Asked him when I could get the car, he puts me on hold, comes back and says "probably tomorrow". I wait a couple of hours, the whole time just thinking about driving the car, and decide to call the sales person to see if he can get a better estimate if I can pick one up tonight or tomorrow. I call and he tells me he still has to go get the car, eventhough I had put a reservation on the one that was sold. Now I'm worried about the young guys who drive the cars around from different dealerships and do various tasks. I just know they're gonna boot the car and floor it before the break in is done. Then he tells me he might be able to get it this week "thursday or something like that". I don't know what to think now!

As with any dealer, tell them exactly what YOU want. If you want the car transported on a truck so it doesn't get mileage then tell them.

Two Things...

1. I spend a lot of time on the highway in my job and most of the guys I see doing dealer swaps are of the retired generation, definately not car beaters. My local dealership has a cadre of "old guys" to do the vehicle ferrying. I've had quite a number of new cars "dealer traded" by being driven and have never had anything bad come of it.
2. Don't be surprised if the dealership charges you for a flat bed transfer. It's a ton more expensive than than having it driven.

If I was you, I would TELL the dealer what you want. It is your money and your time they are screwing with. Dont take no for an answer. I hate the way dealers screw with you because they think they can. I would give the dink that called you another day, tops... then I would go straight to the boss. Another thing, refuse to pay a cent to have your car transfered. you just gave them a shitload of money and are a potentail for more money. they are simply high priced retailers, you are the customer and they should do everything in their power to make your dealings with them pleasurable. I guarantee you would not go through this at an Acura or Lexus dealership. why is it different with Mazda

thats my two cents..............

I personally would be pissed if i put a down payment on a car and then they SOLD IT!:wtf: :bs: I think they should be doing something special for you now ,seeing how they SOLD YOUR CAR!

i would be mad as s*** too. the dealership i bought my pro from was awesome. they didnt have the color i originally wanted so they gave me 500 off to buy the silver one i have now. and i got it with only 10 miles. the minute i walked in they left me alone until i was ready to talk to a salesman...when i was lookin at other cars(celica, matrix, se-r) it was sad cause i knew more about the car than the salesman. this wasnt so for the mazda. they knew what they were selling me...
