Well, for my gauges i went with stewart warner, cuz i couldn't afford anything real expensive, and it sounded like pretty much everyone had a positive experience with them.

Well, my boost gauge is problematic. Shows boost fine, as far as i can tell, a nice 6-6.5 for a stock car... but its got two points, at 10 and 16, where it sticks on the vacuum side, so its not always showing an accurate vacuum reading. Talked to the place i ordered it from (vichubbard), and they said they'd replace it, they sent me a new one, once i have it installed i send my current one back, they pay for shipping, and credit my account once they have it back. WELL, new one just showed up today, but it reads 1 PSI just sitting in the box.... dammit.

What should i do?? I certainly can't afford to go get defi gauges or anything. Should i try asking for another one yet again??

That would be a funny of getting them not to carry those gauges. Though 1psi is not that much when your driving fast and trying to keep an eye on the road. Since you already talked to them about the bad gauge they should have tried and given you one that was good. It's not like the box was sealed so it couldn't be seen before they sent it out to you. I say once the complaint is already out there demand satisfaction. Good luck to you.

BUT, that means its not accurate.... and who knows what other problems it may hold.... with it reading at 1 PSI, plus perhaps reading boost on the high side, lets say.... maybe down the road i'd think i'm running 12 PSI, but in reality its only 8 or so. That would suck. I know since its a 'cheap' guage it won't ever be super accurate, i'm sure if t3ase was still here he'd rant to no end about cheap gauges. But i think the thing should at least work right. I guess i will ask for another one. again.

I would make them send you another and keep sending you another untilyou get one that works...

I also have that guage except mine shows up to 25psi of boost, but mine works fine. Shows -20 vac and 13psi :)

Well, my dad's been in contact with em since he's the one who talked to them in the first place when he ordered it (for christmas). Well, they said they'd send me another one, but its about 1/4 off in the box, but its the only one they have. They said they've talked to SW about this, and they think its a shipping issue, so the guy is sending it priority mail in hopes that it'll get here more safely. Had i been talking to em, i woulda asked to just wait until they get in a guage thats dead centered. But he said if we have problems with this one too, we can send it back as well. They are trying to make it right, so thats good.

my autometer guage works great, lens fogs up at times but its very accurate from what i can tell.........you can pick one up for about $50.00

No, i don't want autometer, because i've heard more stories of innacuracy problems with them than with SW, not that yours is innacurate though.... and also i'm anal, and need my gauges to match, lol. Thanks though.

You also used a great supplier, vendor, installer!

i have SW gauges and they work fine.... but when i was ordering it from VicHubbard, their sales rep sent me an email telling me there was a batch that was miscalibrated from the factory and that they would ship me a good one. you may have gotten a bad one?

I personally visited the SW factory and seen the gauges being built/tested/ect. I also have a set in my car. I can tell you that they will either read 1/2 psi off or 1hg off brand new. Its the way they are built inside (looking for my diagrams gimmie a while) They are built that way, so they will not wear out.

Bah, I can explain more once I find the paperwork they gave me. I have the same gauge, and when the car is off, its almost at 1hg and not at 0. At idle Im at 19-20 hg and 6.5 psi. I checked it with another vac/boost gauge my buddy had and got the same readings.

Have you had a chance to dig up that info?
I have one that reads 1hg while the car is off. If I tap the gauge, it will drop to 1/2 hg.
