damn , got a speeding ticket

innocent until proven guilty...or just get a great lawyer and you'll be walking away with a sue against the city/state... (lol2)

But seriously, get a radar... Beltronics, V1, or Escort and stick to the high-end models. The best money you will ever spend.

whew, youre right, sounds like a real prick........

yep he pulled some 'super troopers' BS too. he was coming the other direction saw us and made a u-turn. i saw him my rear view FLYING in the left lane to catch up (without his lights on) I thought he was gonna get the barreta in front of me. but just as he got to my front quarter panel he turned on his lights, SLAMMED!! on his brakes, and AGGRESSIVLY merged right behind me.

i was being sarcastic

Good luck with any Bel or Escort you buy off ebay because the warranty is voided so you are screwed when it breaks. Tell me who the seller was because their name is probably on the unauthorized reseller list.

Warranty does not apply to your product under any of the following conditions:

The serial number has been removed or modified.

You are not the original purchaser of the radar detector from an authorized dealer or did not receive it as a gift from the original purchaser of the radar detector from an authorized dealer.

Unauthorized resellers appear and disappear, and may change names often, but purchasing a Beltronics product from any of the unauthorized resellers listed below will subject you to unauthorized reseller risks.

Ya I know I cant take it to Beltronics but the seller gives me a 1 year money back if I have a problem. Its a good store with 100% good feedback.Im not worried about it and the sticker is on the back of it and has the latest version on it.

I'm pretty confident that I could lose a cop in the event of a high speed pursuit but I hopefully will never find myself in that kind of situation...lol

Out of curiosity does anybody know the top speed on a typical cop car?
And how about there performance #'s like 0-60, 1/4, lat g's, etc..?

I know someone is going to say something about "You can't outrun the radio" True but if you are so long gone by the time they get around to you, there's still a good chance you will prevail.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking about nor endorsing fleeing and or evading the police; I'm just a little curious is all.

A typical crown vic with the light bars and all the weight will only go around 130mph give or take. A lot of cops are going with the smaller light bars or none at all might have a slightly higher top end. The SUV's probably wont hit much over 100mph, I'm not too sure about the new dodge cars (charger/magnum) they are starting to use but they are Chrysler products... I'll have to refrence a Car & Driver article I read about cop cars and their drivers training but I dont think with all the weight and equipment in them they test lateral G's or other performance aspects. I've seen XLR-V, Z06, Z28, Mustang GT, and other variety of high end cop cars that would probably not have any problems catching our cars.

Yeah a Z06 wouldn't have a problem at all. A stock Mustang GT might have a problem trying to catch a modded MS3 though

welll last friday coming home from a basketball game i got pulled over for some bull i seriously wasnt even racing and a mustang gt lit his tires next to me and the cop wrote us both up for exhibtion of speed 591 dollar ticket and if i get conviced (im fighting it) automatic 90 day suspension of my license and the cop was the biggest dick ever

Exhibition of speed huh? That's kind of funny (lol2)

Definitely get a lawyer for that one! That sounds like straight up BS

So you can get ticketed for doing burn outs now? (nervous)

wtf is the world coming to?

in some states doing a burnout could be considered reckless driving, so yes, you can get a ticket for that, or anything out of the realm of safe driving.

as for running from the cops... just dont do it. Trust me you will lose. One car trailing you, you could probably lose him in a modded ms3, but you can bet that you run from one cop hes gonna call all his friends to help, and you can throw leinancy out the window then, they will throw the book at you. I know you said you werent actually considering it, but just talking about it here means youve thought it, so lets not promote that any more. Thanks.

Gotcha!

exhibtion of speed --- what is this? would this include accelerating quickly? what should we know about it?

It is our responsibility and duty. There are poor kids around the world that can't go 150mPh, we should not let those thoughts go to waste. It's in the Owner's Manual (32-12) Under the Think About Running chapter.

yeah I got a ticket yesterday for going 80 in a 65. Worst thing was that I was just going with the speed of traffic and the cop picked me out of the group. It was retarded because he camps at the bottom of a big hill so when your coming down the hill your going to be picking up some speed. Have any of you guys ever fought a ticket from a highway patrol and won?

About 6 years ago I had a 1983 Ford Crown Victoria i got pulled over by a state cop for doing 80 in a 70 and fought it, the magistrate looked at me then at the cop and said are you kidding me and let me go. The cops excuse for pulling me over and not the people passing me was because he didnt think an old car was safe going that fast.
