Damm 3rd Gear!!!

i finally went to the track yesterday it was a blast!! They had the Houston import car show show it was reeeal crowded I only go to do 1 run, I went up against and rx-7 Everyting was going great!1st secondgear I was in the lead!! then I counldn't get it into 3rd!! I had to let off the gas and on my 3-4 attempt it finally went in, so I had a 15.5time(fu) I lost atleast 2 seconds from that s***.... But it was fun my first time out only 20 bucks to run all day I'm definaly going back for more!! Another speed running stock boost with an instake and exhast was ran 13.8 @ 102. I'm running 18psi so I should have been in the 13's but ohwell

Was this at Baytown?


EDIT: Hmm it seems i have magical powers which give me the ability to make post #12 into #1 even though it was posted at 11:15 not at 06:14(uhm)

I have CS inserts and that helps a lot with shifting. The TWM bushings are nice too. I took off the shifter counter weight and I have not missed a gear since then....dunno if it's just coincidence or what. Either that or I'm just getting better at shifting the car. I've had the weight off for at least a month now.

hey aaronc7 sorry to change subject but im ordering cobb springs and worried about wheel rub withh a wider tire what size wheel/tire are you using?

Man, I didn't see you there. I was there almost all day and kept an eye out for other speed 3s. Got like 3 passes in, and they all sucked. I tried to launch hard once which resulted in rediculous wheelhop, so I babied it the rest of the time and couldn't best a 14.5 with like a 2.6 60ft. It sure was good fun though.

That's a sign of the engine-trans combo rocking too hard in the engine bay, throwing off the shifter geometry. Happened to me too, at the track. Doesn't happen on the street, though.

A new motor mount (or inserts) should clear that right up for you.

Double check that you don't need to complete the trans-bolt recall, either.

yeah got the recall, i need to get some insert or something cuase I want to do more runs

That was me! I had worked from like 7pm the night before and left for Houston as soon as I got home and got ready and everyone was ready to go, so I was going off pure enjoyment for the scene and the event to keep going and when that vette blew what I'm guessing was his rear end and stopped that lane I figured it was time to book. I've actually never been to a track where at least one chevy didn't break. And was just wondering, who is gonna be tuning your car? I haven't heard of many Mazda tuners in Houston and then again haven't been in the mazda crowd for very long. I kinda want Jason(stoopidfast) to tune my car when I get my fuel pump and ems.

yeah at sat in line after you left for like 1hour and half fro them to clean the track.. I'm planning on going again in a week or 2 maybe we can meet up, i met another dude there he ran a 13.8 on stock boost with an intake and turboback exhuast

I have the cp-e intake and TBE, ets intercooler, and I think I may have acutally broke my awr mount. So in that case had an awr mount, time for the solid mounts, and stock tires with almost 19k miles on them, I'll be back in Houston for a week in Feb. Hopefully I'll run into somebody at the meets.

It makes a kind of metal on metal clunk when you get off the gas kinda high in the rpm range. I've done it before and awr replaced it but I think it's just time to go full out and see if I can get this infernal wheelhop under control. And I'll do that, since I don't know anyone in Houston I'm not gonna have anything to do after class that whole week.
