personally i dont see how one cylinder losing 100lbs compression can warrant an entire engine rebuild... esp since service said $1100 worst case out the door. but i know u know alot. hmm.
right right- that was done, its not like im gonna have to rebuild everything. im sorry i thought u meant by rebuilding that the whole engine (all 4 cylinders) would have to be rebuilt. lol.
umm.. you DO have to replace all 4 pistons because of engine balance.. and its also possible that boring and honing can change the tollerances of the cylinder bore... so that further complicates things
Aw too bad you're not in Cali. I'm NDI here on base and I could do it for free. (the dye penetrant part at least). How did you lose all that compression?
I have no idea what happened, and it would be nice if you can get pics... but if this kind of s*** happened, then it probably happened a while ago when the engine ran lean... it's kind of hard to burn valves normally except when the valve lash is ****** up.... I'm glad that it's just a valve job right now
yes, i know he was trying to help, but can people give me credit that i research something (seeing as how im a moderator and have 3000 posts?) im sorry, but its not cool for someone to be like- here is the most obvious statement- dont run lean- its not good.
knowing exactly what i cylinder head is a BIT MORE detail than knowing not to run a car lean. seriously, i would expect someone to know the FUNDAMENTAL basics of a nitrous system rather than specific details of what parts are located in the cylinder head in my engine.
