they apparently send the cylinder head to a machining shop in fort wayne. they will call back when they know the problem.

Man I've been searching everywhere for what happen, so what happen? Nitrous go boom :(

*gets down on kness and prays to the Mazda gods*

I see an msp in pdh's future

hope it all goes well though :( sounds like your baby is in trouble

Good luck man!! Sorry about the car:(. Are you going to be running bottle again or are you done for sure? Just build it;).

what IS the cylinder head exactly

Basically it is the top potion of the block which houses the springs, camshafts etc. It is what sits below your valve cover and on top of the actual head itself.

apparently my problem must be in there... ?

why would they go send it out if its a problem with the pistons...

hrm

u saying me being desperate=me getting shafted? dude told me $500 teardown... $1100 worst case.

yes.. you are getting desparate trying to get it fixed/find out wtf is wrong... seriously... you can drive on 3 cylinders for a few hundred miles at low speed back to your house.. all you would end up with is using a lot more gas, and a hot cat

Theyt probably sent it out to get dyed. (they check it for cracks, and warping) Also, probaly checking the valve seats and what not. :D

for everyone who is wondering what happened- cylinders 1 2 3 are FINE (compression test) cylinder 4 was down to 75 lbs compression (normal is 175).

i drove the car saturday morning to a soccer tourn, then 8 hours later, drove home. immediately after starting the car to head home i noticed something. changed plugs, that wasnt it. CEL came on- flashing. oil coming out of my air filter.
brought car in.

yes, it was ticking at idle, i had posted that a few weeks ago. it sounded like the purge that u move when install injen.

no stumble really when i heard ticking. fine performance upto when i left for my friends sat night.

its leaking oil out because there is a lot of blow from the engine crank case... a simple limp home fix is to buy a few bottles of motor oil, a little plastic bottle... vacuum plug.. hook up the breather hose to the bottle... make sure bottle is vented... use the vacuum plug on the intake hose to stop the vacuum leak... then drive off no faster than 50mph...

but it's too late now

I seriously think that you either cracked the piston or blew the rings... I don't think there's anything wrong with the head

and if you did limp home, you probably end up scoring the cylinder walls more... but like that hasn't happened already with a damaged piston... I said "probably"... it might be good enough condition that it won't do it... but regardless, you're in for an engine rebuild
