cx5 2016
Hi, can you please post your general experience with your own CX-5 2016 ??

I just bought one but im concerned about the possible transmission issues that im seeing on this and other forums, so can you please post about your experience with your CX5-2016 ?? Things like manufacture date, actual mileage, transmission experience, etc will be very useful

As i see on some forums this transmission issue its appearing even on cx5 2013 but it seems that its more present ont cx5 2016 thats why im so concerned about it even considering cancelling my order with my mazda dealer

please provide information about it

thanks !!

2016 GT AWD tech I-active, 10,000mi and no issues what so ever, shifts are smooth and strong. I really like the paddle shifters I added too!

Every vehicle out there will eventually experience problems, I don't know of a single vehicle that hasn't had a transmission problem reported for it. I'm not talking individual units but rather the whole group, all CR-V's, Rav4's, all bmw 3 series, what ever it may be, if you search you will probably find someone that has had an issue with a transmission or something else major like that. It all boils down to driving style coupled with manufacturing tolerances. The machines that are set up to make the individual parts for something like a transmission make thousands of parts, the machine wears and the parts start to be made in the lower tolerance ranges. If too many of these parts that have a tolerance on the lower end of the spectrum get put together and then the car with all those parts is purchased buy someone who is a bit rougher on the vehicle or goes to a climate that is harder on that part there is bound to be problems eventually. Most manufactures have good processes of manufacturing that reduce the chances of this happening and the Machinces that make the parts are kept in tight tolerances it can still happen.

I would not say that the CX-5 is prone to transmission issues at all. A few people have reported problems but many more have not reported any issues.

2016 GT bought in November 2015. only 2 very minor issues so far. 1. Problems with Pandora connecting and/or staying connected. Odd because all other BT applications work perfectly. 2. Creaking Lumbar support on right side of drivers seat. Other than that cars perfect, honestly the best new car I've ever owned. And at 5500 miles no issues at all with the transmission.

thanks for the information, its good to know there are people without issues too..
mine will arrive on Friday I will keep you updated

2016.5 CX-5 Touring AWD bought a few weeks ago. 232 miles, and too early to comment on reliability.

I've owned two Mazda3s though that were both extremely reliable. The forums for those vehicles also mentioned the occasional transmission issue or whatever, but I never had any issues. Heck, my 2007 Mazda3 has only needed scheduled maintenance over the last 130k miles with zero suprises. No car is perfect, and there will be vehicles that experience transmission or engine issues.

People tend to hit the forums and post a negative experience much quicker than a positive one. I honestly wouldn't be too concerned. Mazdas tend to be rated nicely for reliability per Edmonds and such. You will always run the risk of experiencing a mechanical issue, but that risk will occur with any car. Some cars are just riskier than others.

I got my 2016 GT in August 2015 and just rolled over 26,500 miles.
Not bad for 9 months (first)

So far I haven't had any transmission or other drivetrain issues. And I drive it very hard, having to pass multiple logging trucks at a time and other obstacles on a daily commute.
I have gotten my oil changed every 5k but that's it.
The reports of transmission issues has had me worried, so I've kept an eye on it, but so far nothing.
