2013 CX-9 Touring
something interesting,

a friend came up for a visit in his 2012 Range Rover HSE and when I sat in it, I swore it looked like my CX-9, I never realized the design style was so similar :

at first I thought Land Rover plain ripped off CX-9 design and just added the air vent element across the dash to make it different and stand out

but after some research, it looks like Mazda engineers used Range Rover design language for inspiration,
per Wikipedia, Range Rover had this design since 2006 before CX-9 even came out.

Anyway, I still prefer CX-9's more sleek/simple design vs RR's busy looking center dash with broken elements like the air vents

Vents over screen over HVAC controls--I think you would find a lot of cars of mid to late 2000s use that layout.

The CX9 is a updated larger version of the same design Mazda used on the like 2002 Protege's is what i always thought. It looks just like it. And even comparing the 3 now, Still think the CX9 looks alot more like the much older Protege.

Vents and hazard button the same. Radio layout same, heater controls are the same. Even the side trim is similar. They just enlarged everything.

I could pick apart the interior piece by piece. It was def a Mazda design. Steering wheel is a more sharp angled version of the Mazda3/6 steering wheel used since 2003. Gauges are a direct copy of the 03+ Mazda3 gauges. The seats are a larger/slightly cheaper version of the Alcantra trimmed speed3 seats. About the only thing really not typical of other mazdas is the sharp piano black handle on the door panels. Thats always stood out as quite different to there typical design.
