Anyone notice that the roof on the CX-7 has almost no insulation? Any time it rains it sounds like we are driving in an aluminum can. Sounds like there is no noise insulation in the roof at all.

Actually I did notice it. I still remember it so it must have drawn my attention more than normal. It doesn't really bother me though. It quiet and smooth compared to my msp!

Never noticed and it rains here (S. Florida) almost every day. It will probably bother me now that you pointed it out. *insert sarcasm* Thanks alot... :)

^LOL noticed it on the test drive. Wasn't enough to deter my wife and I from buying the vehicle, but you described it perfectly... a crumply aluminum can. I just turn the radio up really loud or it eats away at my soul. I owned/own 4 BMW's and after 200,000 miles they are still very quiet in the cabin. Would have thought a new car would be better. Oh well, every car has it's little idiosyncrasies. Still a wonderful vehicle.

I think it's neat being all safe & warm and hearing rain pattering on the roof. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I never noticed it either. Then again, it's the wifes ride. I drive a soft top Jeep every day. That's loud!

Never noticed it either. But I bet when it snows it'll make a helluva racket! Just kidding... :p

I live in the Pacific NW and never really noticed it being loud when it rains, but now that you mention it... I think I was thinking it was from the moon roof..
and I love driving my tin can down the road zipping past everyone....

^Possibly... but it is VERY distinct. To me it seems to be coming from the rear part of the roof/quarters. There is no mistaking it as normal sound... lol it is very loud. I mean I'm sure it's normal for this car (no sound insulation), but if BMW did this lol they would have like ZERO buyers at their price point. Actually never heard a car that had this kind of ambient noise during rain.

Again it doesn't deter my wife and I from loving the car... and with the stereo going in next week, I probably won't ever hear it again since I play the shiza out of my music.
