Look at the specs.

Length: 186.8 in. Width: 70.1 in.
Height: 56.7 in. Wheel Base: 105.3 in.

I love that you tracked all this info down, to capture the distinctions you can see and feel are there.

What vehicle is the last batch of numbers for? the 6?

Yeah they are for the 6.

Actually the numbers were pretty easy to find. I just to Edmunds.com I went their before getting the cx-7 to compare it's specs with what I was used to (2005 Mustang).

They've got close similarity, but CX-7 is still the best.

hummer h3=nissan xtera

No. Hummer H3 is built on the GM/Isuzu Colorado & Canyon pickup truck platform. No relationship between GM and Nissan.

As far as the MKX & CX-7, after seeing the MKX and owning our CX-7, I can see a lot of similarities.

the edge and the MKX are on the same platform as our Mazda CX7. FYI Ford owns 20% of Mazda..

Wrong!!! CX-7 is fully build in Japan and was disigned by Mazda with no help for Ford. They were all disigned at the same time with different customers in mind. The MKX is not made for people who know what a "forum" is, so just stop looking, I'm sure your grandmas will love it. Also Ford owns 32.5% of Mazda, just enough that Ford has no control over how Mazda builds their vehicle, but just enough that they can steal technologies. Ford does on the other hand own and control all of MazdaUSA Credit. (lick)

The Edge is loosely based on the Mazda 6 platform. And the CX-7 uses components from the Mazda 5 and Mazda 3. I believe is the 5 platform and suspension bits from the 3.

This isn't right either. Ford owns 34% of Mazda. It's enough to have controling interest in the company in Japan (33% is the threshold). Ford and Mazda share alot of technology. Just open the hood to the CX-7 and you'll see FOMOCO (Ford Motor Company) cast right on the engine.

The CX-7 is not the Edge, the CX-9 is. IIRC, most mags listed the rear suspension of the CX-7 from the 5 and front from the 6. This is why the CX-7 drives differently than the Edge. Test drive the 9 compared to the edge and you'll find similarities.
