CX 7
Hi all
Just did my 20000Km sirvice on my CX 7 diesel had to fill up the AD Blue but the DPF light on the dash is flashing what can i do to stop it or do i have to take it back to Mazda ????

Did you read the owners manual about this? I would like to guess that since its a diesel,The dpf light means that the DPF (Diesel Particulate filter) needs regeneration, meaning that there should be a switch you flip on with a engine symbol that will start the regeneration process, the engine needs to be at operating temp to start the process,Flip the switch on and it takes about fifteen minutes for the engine to burn the soot in the dpf filter down to ash,the exh temp gets really hot so dont do it on top of weeds or will get a fire, let it do its thing then it will automatically shut down after or will promp you to shut it down, you can also do it while on the freeway for a 20 or so minutes drive,if you dont regen the dpf the engine will go into low power mode after the light starts flashing after so many warnings to prevent engine damage..read the manual it should be able to take you through the steps...

How did you go with the DPF, mine is flashing and if anyone knows where the switch is to reset, it would be of great help.
Dave.

Hey Dave, I dont own a diesel cx7,But I do work on diesel rigs,On Peterbilt tractors when the light for the dpf flashes, The owners manual says the switch that has a turbo blowing symbol on it is the one you flip on,The engine needs to be at operating temp for the process to begin, The DPF ( diesel particular filter) is a big looking down pipe after the turbo on the exhaust, they have fuel lines going in and a spark plug and a turbo line into it,What it does is creates a fire in the exhaust and burns the soot in the particulate trap to ash,All diesels with dpf filters should have the option to regen the dpf, the exhaust gets so hot you can feel the heat standing next to the rig,do it while going down the freeway is recommended,Is there a switch in the panel next to the tcs switch, left of the steering wheel ?The ones ive seen have a turbo blowing symbol on them,Also look in the owners manual, should tell you about the dpf light flashing..On a big rig it means regen the dpf or its going to go into low power mode till you do, let me know what you find...

Thanks for that info, I am a diesel fitter myself, usually on 15k + horse power units. My mechanic has the latest gear, but no switches or anything to start the regen process. I found out I had to take the car back to Mazda and get it hooked up to their computer, they have made it electronic and each time the car is serviced, they reset it (dpf). so $66au lighter and the dpf reset the car is good to go. My mechanic (after a few calls) found an adblue supplier, 10
L for $30, and it took longer to fill, then to access the filler cap and replace it all, Mazda charge $280. So in a nutshell, my services cost $267 with my mechanic and $66 at Mazda to reset the dpf, still a lot cheaper than Mazda.

Hey Dave, Thanks for the update info on this it will help everyone else with this issue....

Not a problem, will update when my mechanic gets the computer program. I have sourced through Cummins Diesel (Aust) Adblue for about $20(au) a 10L container of Adblue, so shop around, my mechanic gets it through Penrite Oils $30/10L.
