CX-5 Windshield Sun Shade / Visor

Also, they sent me a link to set my password for an account with autoanything that would be active for "72 hours". 24 hours later, "no longer valid". *slow claps*

I also just ordered a covercraft visor from auto anything. Earlier this week, I received an email from them that invited me to chat to get an additional 10% off. After I added items to my cart, I went to checkout and a Chat pop up window popped up. So I chatted and told them about the 10% off email, and bingo, 10% off.

K, guess this forum doesn't have spoiler tags, and the pics are big so I posted links instead of inserting.

Ignore the suction pads, they're not part of the sunshade.

They fit decently. Not 100% perfect air tight fit by any means, but then again, my standard as an engineer may be a bit higher than normal. It's the blue color, looks great and high end. It's stiff enough to almost stay in place by itself.

You can buy one now online through your MyMazda online shop. Check it out, Part # 0000-8M-R01A - $64.95

Thanks guys, that Covercraft looks great, just ordered on AutoAnything. $53ish total.

Yup, looks a lot nicer than wrinkled foil texture. Wish it was a bit more reflective, but the color option was definitely nice. I'm looking to get a big Mazda logo sticker on it, but would have to do it in halves across the middle fold.

I've had my Covercraft for about two weeks now. The amount it reduces interior temps when my CX-5 (black/black interior) is in direct sunlight is impressive. I had one on the Dodge Ram I owned before so I knew this was a good a product. Admitedly the Covercraft is bulky and it can be a bit of a pain to get in position until you learn how to throw it up quickly. Honestly, the biggest issue with the Covercraft shades is storing it when not in use. I ordered the bag with mine and I just keep it between the passenger seat and door. But, that's because I have two little passengers in the back a lot more often than a passenger up front. If my back seat was seldom used it would be no big deal to keep it on the rear seat. Regardless of all my babble, glad you found a shade to your liking. You won't regret the purchase when the mercury soars.

Here's my impression after the first day of test. I'm at Houston Texas, and the weather is somewhat sunny, with some clouds. My car is still pretty hot with this on, although I'm aware of its limitation, since car gets heat up from roof and other area exposed to sun. What I did notice tho, was that the Covercraft itself was pretty hot too. As suspected, although the color options are nice looking, the reflective surface isn't reflective enough so it does heat up from the sun. When I have time, I will layer the outside surface with smooth aluminum foil pieces that I will cut to the precise size to match each panel.

Damn, just got a coupon from AutoAnything, $10 off $50 if I review a product I bought last week (INNO Bike Mount)
Think I'll use the coupon to buy a Curt trailer hitch

I used to have this fold up style, back in the 80's and over time it would deteriorate. The hinged areas would start to decay and wear through exposing the inner cardboard stiffener. Over time, the whole thing would start to have a sag in it due to the weight. They may have since improved the materials, but I have had much better luck with the lightweight roll up style called "HeatShield" from CanvasWorks or a competing product by IntroTech. Have had these products for years, and just ordered a HeatShield for our CX-5. It really keeps the temps down.

Used in combination with heat rejecting window tint, it is amazing. I know a guy with a Civic Si. He installed a titanium gray coated brass shift knob, over 450 grams in weight to help change the shifting dynamics. In the summer, he had to put a sock over the shift knob as it became too hot to touch. With the HeatShield, depending on orientation to the sun, the sock was not that necessary. With the tint, and the HeatShield, the sock is not necessary.

Here's a picture of the HeatShield's coverage

I was told by a Heatshield distributor that the 2013 application will not fit a 2014 model with Tech Package due to the SCBS/Rain sensor located in front of the rear view mirror. Did you notice slight fitment issues? Going by your photo, there doesn't seem to be an issue.

It fits just fine. The cutout around the mirror isn't a large square to fit around the SCBS box, but it easily clears the mirror support that sticks out. So it rests a bit againt the SCBS cover, which is no big deal. I wouldn't listen to that guy and go ahead and order it if you're interested.

I have a 2014 GT w/ tech and I ordered the Heatshield. It fits just fine. It does bulge out a bit around the mirror due to that huge box but it still fits just fine. In fact, it's still snug enough that I don't have to put down my visors to hold it in place.

Same here. We use a Heatshield on a 2014 CX-5 AWD GT with Tech. No issues with the sensor pod (sounds better than box :) )
